Job Description
The IT specialist will collaborate closely with the Principal Investigators and staff from both the Clinical Imaging Research Centre and the Centre for Translational MR Research at the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine to ensure seamless IT operations.
Responsibilities
IT System Management & Administration (with support from external vendors)
- Manage and administer Windows servers, including OS installation, basic firewall configuration, security patching, and upgrades. Additionally, oversee the creation of virtual machines and deployment of containers (e.g., Docker), management of user accounts and access.
- Basic administration for Linux systems.
- Maintain network infrastructure, troubleshoot basic network issues, and administer systems/servers within the existing networking infrastructure. Manage computing cluster networks, VLANs, and closed networks for specialized medical equipment.
- Administer information management systems, including medical applications such as Picture Archiving and Communication Systems (PACS), Radiology Information System (RIS), and Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS). Coordinate with external vendors for support and maintenance, including Siemens applications and XNAT.
Responsibilities
Project Management
- Lead and oversee IT projects across both Centres, from planning to delivery.
- Foster effective communication and collaboration among stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle.
- Monitor project progress, identify potential delays or issues, and implement mitigation strategies.
- Manage project budgets and expenses, ensuring projects stay within budgetary constraints.
- Provide regular project status reports to stakeholders.
Responsibilities
IT Administration
- Handle IT budgeting for departmental needs.
- Procure IT products through sourcing quotations, tender calls, and market research.
- Manage vendor relationships, including escalation of issues, maintenance contracts, and warranties.
- Maintain an inventory of IT equipment/assets, conduct yearly verifications, and oversee proper disposal procedures.
- Provide ad hoc technical support, including end-user assistance, printer setup, troubleshooting, and replacement of IT equipment parts. Manage documentation such as SOPs.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent.
- Minimum 2-3 years of experience in Windows and 1 year in Linux System Administration preferred.
- Familiarity in networking concepts (routing, switching, VLANs, IPv4/IPv6, firewall, TCP/IP) is advantageous.
- Knowledge of LAMP stack (Linux OS, Apache, MySQL, PHP/Python, Java applications) is advantageous.
- Familiarity with OS-level and infrastructure virtualization (e.g., VMware vCenter, vSphere).
- Understanding of DevOps concepts, including containers, is advantageous.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
- Self-motivated, able to work independently, and a strong team player.
- Fast learner, highly organized, and positive attitude.
- General knowledge of High-Performance Computing Clusters and scientific software is advantageous.
- Familiarity with XNAT, PACS/RIS systems, and DICOM data archiving/retrieving is advantageous.
