JOB SUMMARY:

As a Quality Engineer specializing in Electrical and Instrumentation (E&I), you play a critical role in ensuring the highest standards of quality and compliance across EPC projects. Responsible for overseeing inspection and testing activities related to electrical and instrumentation systems, you will be responsible to ensure adherence to project specifications, codes, and standards. With a focus on safety and precision, you collaborate with project teams, subcontractors, and clients to drive quality assurance throughout all project phases.


RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Always follow all site safety requirements and use of PPE
  • Write, modify, review, and implement project related ITP, Procedures, Specification requirements.
  • Material Verifications on all incoming outgoing E&IC project related materials and prepare inspection reports.
  • Perform specialist inspection surveillance of E&IC fabrication and installation to ensure that contractor carries out the fabrication and assembly work in accordance with the contract specifications, approved drawings and fabrication/erection and test procedures and the defined hazardous area requirements.
  • Provide leadership for executing teams on E&IC.
  • Perform daily QA/QC monitoring and surveillance.
  • To report non-conformance findings.
  • Record all defects observed using the Project Completions Management System (Database) electronic punch lists.
  • Monitor and check all electrical hazardous area certification related inspection work to assure compliance.
  • Proactively advise where work, material or process needs to be revised.
  • Use project Completions Management System database, witness, review and survey of electronic E&IC check sheets and to ensure accuracy of information recorded.
  • Repair defective works on the spot where possible.
  • Closeout punch list items in Completions Management System completed by Contractor/Supplier, etc.
  • Witness & conduct various electrical & instrumentation testing.
  • Witness & conduct FAT & SAT inspections.
  • Witness & conduct PLC Panel, MCC Panel and Electrical Panels FAT
  • Final document compilation and submissions.
  • Conduct audits, creating audits, finding reports and determining proper corrective and preventive actions.
  • Authorized to stop contractors’ work where quality is not being achieved.
  • Handle and decide on disposition of non-conforming material.
  • Able to plan and resolve drawing details and discrepancies.
  • Ensure the calibration of measuring tools are up to date.
  • Oversee QC activities, ensure the job is delivered on time.
  • Anticipate and resolve problems encountered in the field to eliminate costly rework or retesting.
  • Identifies and evaluates Quality-related incidents / problems / non-conformances and initiates, recommends, and provides effective solutions where necessary.
  • Responsible for initiating, collecting, dispositioning, and retention of QA/QC records in accordance with documented procedures.
  • Manages relationship with Sub-contracted companies to ensure compliance between subcontracted services and client best practices.
  • Perform Audit surveillance as work progresses, avoid last minute discoveries, address repetitive non-compliance and monitor implementation of corrective actions in response to the identification of non-conforming products/services through QA/QC Audits or otherwise, until the unsatisfactory condition has been rectified.
  • Perform site inspections at subcontractor workshops including Instrument Calibration, Control Valve testing, and Material inspections.
  • Coordination with clients / third party, in accordance with approved ITP, for agreed witness inspections & tests.
  • Monitoring all installation and inspection of instrumentation work with respective Quality ITPs and Checklist.
  • Monitoring and inspection of Loop checking.
  • Preparing inspection & test reports of completed inspections & tests.
  • Preparation of final quality dossiers / test packs and maintaining backups of completed quality.
  • Submitting weekly report and requested information / statistics to Department QC Supervisor.
  • Liaison with QA/QC Manager for all aspects of quality
  • Implement, maintain and verify quality system at job site as per company quality procedure and project quality plan.
  • Incoming material inspection, review of certification documents and prepare inspection reports.
  • Preparation of inspection test plan, review method statements related to instrumentation.
  • Inspection of fabrication, installation and commissioning activities for process/electro-mechanical works related to instrumentation.
  • Inspection of subcontract works – factory acceptance tests, etc.
  • Third party certification of equipment /machinery related to job site.
  • Preparation of inspection reports
  • Review and compilation of inspection documents for final documentation.

SKILLS/EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION REQUIRED:

  • Candidate must possess at least bachelor’s degree/Post Graduate Diploma/Professional
  • Degree in Engineering (Electrical, Instrumentation) or equivalent Minimum 10 years of relevant working experience in EPC projects with multi discipline.
  • Certification/Training in Quality
  • A working knowledge of Construction / Electrical / Inspection codes and practices
  • The inspector shall have direct knowledge of all aspects of electrical testing such as Insulation, Resistance testing, Current and Voltage testing.
  • Have a working knowledge of the National Electric Code/NFPA 70, IEC or equivalent standards.
  • Shall be able to inspect complete loop checking, wiring continuity and color coding, start-up, and troubleshooting.
  • Understanding engineering drawings and specification requirements.
  • Knowledgeable in QMS, Welding Inspection, Quality Assurance and Quality Control System.
  • Computer literate and familiar in using basic Microsoft office programs.
  • Good team player and able to work independently.
  • Reliable, well-organized and detail oriented.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skill
  • Excellent organizational and strong verbal and written skills
  • Knowledge of Health & Safety requirements
  • Carry out other duties as assigned by your Superior.
