JOB SUMMARY:
The Quality Engineer for Mechanical and Piping ensures adherence to project specifications and standards throughout engineering construction activities. The successful candidate will have responsibilities to encompass inspection, managing QA/QC documentation, coordinating meetings, and enforcing HSE regulations. Key tasks involve material verification, conducting audits, and resolving non-conformances.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Inspect the job whenever required as per approved procedures, client’s specification, applicable code, standards & approved drawings.
- Accountable for the quality and workmanship of every activity, precise knowledge of all aspects of engineering construction relating to Mechanical, Piping and Structural discipline interfacing the multidisciplinary processes.
- Responsible for QA/QC documents of the complete project including certificates, calibration, test results, inspection requests, non-compliance reports and site instruction/observations, permanent materials delivered, and other important QA/QC documents.
- Ensure quality of inspected items meet project requirement and standard.
- Participate in Construction & technical meetings related to Gradiant projects being executed and potential project opportunities as Gradiant’s representative.
- Ensure HSE requirements are always all in place and ensure compliance with HSE regulations and requirements.
- Ensure that the construction quality is in accordance with the approved Project Quality Plan.
- Read, understand, and implement projects related to ITP, Procedures, Specification requirements.
- Review Documents and Drawings as per specification.
- Ensure Material verification against MDR, MIL Cert, etc.
- Verify and ensure cutting plan against actual cutting of material.
- Perform fit-up inspection against drawing/WPS.
- Send daily RFI to client and conduct Quality orientation for piping to PMT/QC/Subcon.
- Perform visual inspection and maintain the reports.
- Ensure inspectors surveillance reports/ inspection reports are in place.
- Ensure outstanding NDE were performed and follow up with NDE team/Contractor.
- Maintain latest drawings and raise NCR if any non-compliance observed.
- NDE % coverage monitoring and maintain the register as per project requirement.
- Attend daily toolbox meeting in time.
- Participating on weekly HSE safety briefing and delivering talk
- Conduct weekly quality walk with client/PMT.
- Review piping pressure test pack and compiling of weld and material summary reports.
- Monitoring and maintaining record of inspection status of piping test packs.
- Co-ordinate with Notifying body for site inspection PED approval
- Final document compilation and submission and get client acceptance.
- Conduct audits, creating audits, finding reports and determining proper corrective and preventive actions.
- Communication with Client, Vendors and Internal team.
- Material Verifications on all incoming outgoing project related materials.
- Handle and decide on disposition of non-conforming material.
- Able to plan and resolve drawing details and discrepancies.
- Ensure the calibration of measuring tools are up to date.
- Oversee QC activities, ensure the job is delivered on time.
- Anticipate and resolve problems encountered in the field to eliminate costly rework or re-testing.
- Identifies and evaluates Quality-related incidents / problems / non-conformances and initiates, recommends, and provides effective solutions where necessary.
- Responsible for initiating, collecting, dispositioning and retention of QA/QC records in accordance with documented procedures.
- Manages relationship with Sub-contracted companies to ensure compliance between subcontracted services and Client best practices.
- Perform Audit surveillance as work progresses, avoid last minute discoveries, address repetitive non-compliance, and monitor implementation of corrective actions in response to the identification of non-conforming products/services through QA/QC Audits or otherwise, until the unsatisfactory condition has been rectified.
- Perform site inspections at subcontractor workshops.
- Coordination with clients / third party, in accordance with approved ITP, for agreed witness inspections & tests.
- Submitting weekly report and requested information / statistics to Department QC Supervisor.
- Liaison with QA/QC Manager for all aspects of quality
SKILLS/EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION REQUIRED:
- Candidate must possess at least bachelor's degree/Post Graduate Diploma/Professional
- Degree in Engineering (Chemical), (Mechanical) or equivalent
- Minimum 10 years of relevant working experience in EPC projects with multi discipline.
- Valid certifications such as AWS Certified Welding Inspector or CSWIP 3.1. is preferable.
- Understanding engineering drawings and specification requirements.
- Knowledgeable in QMS, Welding Inspection, Quality Assurance and Quality Control System.
- Understand piping fabrication/installation inspection and testing requirements.
- Familiar with basic conventional NDT methods.
- Computer literate and familiar in using basic Microsoft office programs.
- Good team player and able to work independently.
- Reliable, well-organized and detail oriented.
- Good communication and interpersonal skill
- Excellent organizational and strong verbal and written skills
- Knowledge of Health & Safety requirements
- Carry out other duties as may be assigned from time to time by your Superior.
