Job Responsibilities
-Work with project PI to develop robust catalysts (3 or more) that convert low-quality used cooking oil to sustainable aviation fuel
-Assist in synthesis and formulation of the catalyst, and testing of the catalyst in hydroprocessing using pressurized H2 in small scale Parr reactors.
-Assist in experimental design and optimize parameters required for the lab-scale to large-scale reactions (>500g) for synthesis of the catalysts using solution and/or solid-state methodologies
-Assist in experimental design and optimize parameters required for the lab-scale to large-scale hydroprocess reactions in large-scale 1L Parr reactors.
-Perform scale-up the pre-treatment process, several litres per batch, using large-scale equipment such as the liquid-liquid extractor unit
-Characterization of the catalyst candidates using
-Presentation at regular project meetings and summarize results in reports
Job requirements:
-A degree in Chemical Engineering, Materials Engineering or Chemistry
-At least 2 years of experience
-Knowledge in synthesis and characterization of compounds (powders)
-Knowledge in use of characterization equipment such as PXRD, SEMEDX, XRF, TEM, DLS etc.
-Proactive, team player and good problem-solving skills
-Data analysis and interpretation skills
-Excellent oral/written communication
-Experience in scaled up reactions (>5 L) is preferred
