The incumbent will join the Quality Assurance Section which is equipped with advanced equipment and comprehensive laboratory facilities and support the QA Manager and Deputy QA Manager in management of product quality and laboratory operations. The Chemist will contribute to the laboratory's commitment to meet relevant safety and quality management standards and support production process to meet organizational objectives.


Key Responsibilities

  1. To liaise with productions and work with a group of chemists to lead a team of analysts and technicians to perform testing and analysis of semi-finished and finished polyolefin product (Polyethylene and Polypropylene) via a variety of sophisticated analytical, processing and testing equipment.
  2. To establish, update and maintain procedures and other quality and safety records to ensure they are accurate and up-to-date, and in compliance with regulatory standards.
  3. To ensure proper upkeep of the laboratory and maintenance of equipment to maintain calibrated and in good working condition. To carry out troubleshooting and root cause investigation of equipment failure when required.
  4. To ensure smooth day-to-day laboratory operations, e.g, schedule planning management of QA members, proper inventory level of laboratory supplies to meet quality and operational requirement, etc.
  5. To collaborate with other Sales and Production members to assist in troubleshooting and technical investigation.
  6. To participate in laboratory ISO and safety activities that will contribute to a safe work environment and to comply to safety and environmental regulations.


Key Requirements

  • Applicants should possess at least a Bachelor Degree in Chemical/ Chemistry/ Polymer Technology/ Material Engineering or related discipline. Candidates at least 3 years of relevant working experience in polymer processing, property testing of plastics and material characterization will be of added advantage.
  • Knowledge in quality assurance processes and ISO management system is essential.
  • The incumbent should be a team player with good interpersonal skills, initiative, drive, possess good communication skills (written and verbal).
