JOB OVERVIEW
The incumbent is responsible for the testing & commissioning of switchgear systems and protection relays based on accuracy and compliance with customer and regulatory requirements. He/she should have a strong grasp of the electrical testing activity and possess good interpersonal skills to communicate effectively with internal as well as external stakeholders.
This position reports to the Testing Manager.
RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES
- Participate in electrical testing activities such as Site Acceptance Test (SAT) and T&C and generate reports from data collected.
- Perform and execute the testing and commissioning tasks as per customer service request, including power turn-on.
- Liaise with customers for technical support and test requirements.
- Coordinate with various internal departments to solve quality issues and any corrective action required.
- Understand and troubleshoot various kinds of control systems i.e. Interlock systems, ATS, DOL, VFD and SD etc.
- Report project progress and risks and prepare internal reports on job status.
- Conduct insulation resistance tests, dielectric tests, primary current injection tests, secondary current injection tests, contact resistance tests, and REF relay tests.
- Conduct initial setup for power meter, protection devices and circuit breakers.
- Perform any other duties as assigned from time to time
JOB SPECIFICATIONS
- Minimum Diploma in Electrical Engineering.
- At least 3 years of relevant experience, preferably in a switchboard company.
- Ability to understand engineering drawing (Single Line Diagram) & control circuit diagrams.
- Extensive knowledge of engineering and testing procedures
- Good problem-solving skills.
- Previous work experience as a test engineer will be a strong advantage.
