Job Description

We are looking for a highly talented and motivated candidate to design and realise Long-life Solid-State Batteries by intelligent composites with active interfaces. This collaborative project will run from 1 July 2024 for 5 years. The focus will be on designing composites of the inorganic solid electrolytes with polymers that retain the high conductivity of the materials, allow for low-cost thin film preparation and yield stable interfaces with electrode materials to achieve solid-state batteries with enhanced rate performance and capacity retention. Key tasks for the Research Fellow in this project will be to cooperate with team members for an effective scalable synthesis, advanced structural and electrochemical characterisation, optimisation of ceramics-in-polymer composite electrolytes, patterned thick cathode composites and their interfaces, and the integration of functionally intelligent sensors / actuators for achieving high performance solid state batteries with long cycle life.

The position will be open from 1 July 2024 initially for three years with optional extension.

Qualifications

• PhD in Materials Science or a related discipline is required.
• Prior experience in synthesis and characterisation of battery materials is required. This can be achieved by a PhD thesis on a related topic.
• Experience in ceramic or polymer electrolytes is desired.
• Basic knowledge in impedance spectroscopy, XRD and solid state NMR is desired
• Ability to work independently and cooperate effectively with the interdisciplinary international team in this CRP project is necessary.
• Excellent writing and presentation skills are needed
