ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

We are seeking an experienced Operations Head to oversee the operational aspects of our container shipping activities. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring smooth and efficient operations, optimizing processes, and enhancing overall performance to meet organizational objectives.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Provide leadership, guidance, and mentorship to the operations team, fostering a culture of excellence, collaboration, and continuous learning.

Responsible for the optimal operations of all vessels (Owned / Chartered in) of the Group.

Monitor vessels’ movements/ETAs and ensure information update/send forecast of vessel daily.

Monitor performance of all vessels, including Time Charter vessel and work with Chartering team on performance claims.

Streamline operational processes across various functions, including vessel scheduling, cargo handling, port operations, and documentation, to improve productivity and minimize turnaround time.

To optimize cargo loadable, validate stowage plans and any restrictions for load and discharge ports.

Establish performance metrics and KPIs to monitor operational performance, analyze trends, identify areas for improvement, and implement corrective actions as necessary.

Liaise with agents and terminals to ensure vessels meet the port requirement and restrictions and optimize vessels’ quick turnaround in port.

Identify potential risks and develop mitigation strategies to safeguard operations against disruptions, delays, and other challenges.

To monitor vessel bunker requirement / negotiate and stem bunker as required.

Build good working rapport and network with all destination port authority etc.

Any ad-hoc duties as and when assigned.


ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE, SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:

Minimum of 10 years of experience in maritime with similar role, preferably in the ship owner’s or shipping sectors.

Bachelor’s degree in Maritime Management, or related field.

In-depth knowledge of container shipping operations, terminal operations, vessel scheduling, and international trade regulations.

Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate teams, drive change, and achieve results in a fast-paced environment, and possess problem solving skills.

Possess strong strategic abilities and a wide network of contacts.

Results-oriented and performance driven.
