We are looking for a Buyer for one of our international shipping client. The incumbent will be responsible for full spectrum of purchasing functions to vessels assigned and in ensuring the control of invoices related to purchased spare parts, consumables and services. The ideal candidate should have at least 3 years of working experience in purchasing function.
Responsibilities
- Work closely with the Superintendents to carry out the following day to day work connected with the vessels assigned.
- Establish and maintain relationships with the vessels and external vendors such as suppliers, forwarders (if applicable), and vessel’s agents.
- To arrange dispatch of stores/spares through the most economical means keeping in mind the urgency of goods to be transported in coordination with the concerned Superintendent.
- To maintain record of the Stock List in the custody of the freight forwarders or other vendors and give necessary instructions to forwarder to ensure timely dispatch or delivery of same to the vessels.
- Work with Purchasing Manager on maintaining the performance of external vendors.
- Other special tasks/additional duties as assigned by the Purchasing Manager.
Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years experience working in procurement (preferably a global organisation)
- Must be a team player and able to work with all levels of people.
- Able to meet tight deadlines.
