Our Team:

You will be working with the General Counsel at Sanofi CHC, and collaborating with around 15 colleagues. Your role will involve managing a team of approximately 4 sub-zones/country lawyers within your region. The team is diverse, consisting of individuals from various cultures including Australia, Indonesia, Japan, and others. They work closely with clusters and zones in ANZ, China, Middle East, and Africa, as well as the regional head.

Main responsibilities:

You drive the regional and zone/local legal strategy for the CHC GBU.

Leadership Teams: member of the CHC Legal Leadership Team and of the CHC Regional Leadership Team.

The CHC Legal Team aims to serve as trusted partners to the business, enabling its sustainable growth while caring for consumers and people, all while protecting Sanofi's independence.

We do so by delivering qualitative and timely legal advice, optimizing processes and resources, spotting trends and shaping the external environment, leveraging on local legal teams and sharing accountability with the business for successes and failures.

Embracing these principles is key to succeed in the position. Role modelling Sanofi's Play to Win behaviours is another critical attribute.

Global responsibilities

Serve as a trusted advisor to the regional CHC business leadership team.

Contribute proactively to the CHC Legal Leadership Team, keeping the global team informed on critical developments in the region.

Deliver high-quality, cost-effective, and timely legal services across the region, managing legal and regulatory risk and assuring compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, standards, and policies.

Establish adequate governance and local legal support, either through an external network where there is no in-house resource or through the recruitment, management, retention, and development of local legal in-house talent.

Define and implement the region's legal strategies; responsibly managing the region's legal budget (internal and external legal costs).

Design, select, manage and evaluate the regional outside counsel network, with an aim to consolidate in one firm as a "one stop shop", all legal counsel needs of the region.

Develop a close and collaborative working relationship with all functional and business leaders at regional and global level, supporting priority projects that stretch you beyond your regional role.


Local responsibilities

Render effective and thoughtful advice to the Regional CHC leadership team.

Provide legal support to CHC teams on their daily operations, to ensure the achievement of business goals compliantly.

Advise and assist on a wide range of business law matters such as contracting, supply manufacturing, digital, data privacy, among others.

Support on authorities' investigations and inspections (excluding compliance topics managed by the EBI team) relating to CHC operations.

Manage CHC third party claims, disputes and litigations.

Ensure abidance to your legal budget.

Oversee outside counsel, including selection, budgeting, management and evaluation.

Drive legal executional excellence through simplification initiatives, optimization of ways of working, leveraging on technology -if applicable- locally and potentially globally

Contribute and assist in drafting and implementing policies, providing relevant trainings to CHC teams

Spot legal trends, update CHC business teams on changes in the regulation and industry codes that might impact the local CHC business operations.

Shape the local legal environment, representing Sanofi CHC in local legal or industry Forums.

Collaborate cross-functionally within and outside the CHC GBU with other legal experts, EBI, business functions and teams in priority projects stretching beyond your local role.


KEY WORKING RELATIONSHIPS

Internal: business partners, Legal, ethics, and Business Integrity teams within and outside the GBU at the global and local levels.

External: competent authorities, third parties -including public and private institutions-external law firms/counselors and trade associations.


About you

Education: Juris Doctor (J.D.), Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.), Master of Laws (LL.M.), Doctor of Juridical Science (S.J.D.), Juris Master (J.M.), Master of Legal Studies (M.L.S.), Master of Studies in Law (M.S.L.) or equivalent

You must have over 10 years of legal experience in the pharmaceutical, FMCG, Consumer Packaged

Goods or related consumer industries.

Effective communication, empathy, and persuasion skills; ability to convey legal concepts concisely to business partners.

Demonstrated ability to create legal defensive or proactive strategies

Organization skills with an eye for detail

Competent negotiator

Having sound judgment and analytical skills, maintaining high professional ethics, integrity, composure, and determination.

Adaptability to embrace a dynamic and diverse working environment


Language skills:

Possess excellent written, oral communication, and presentation skills
