- MojiaBio is seeking highly motivated scientists with a background in Biofoundry, Automation and AI at our R&D headquarters located in Shanghai. The ideal candidates will play key roles in the use of state-of-the-art synthetic biology approaches to develop and improve our chemical manufacturing platforms. As a Team Leader in our Biofoundry and automation team, you will guide a team of scientists and researchers committed to developing and optimizing high-throughput systems that facilitate the engineering of biological systems for our new product pipeline. Your role is instrumental in driving innovation, ensuring project success, and maintaining high-quality standards.
Responsibilities:
- Provide strategic direction for the Protein, Pathway and Strain Engineering team, aligning strategies with company goals. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver value.
- Work within a collaborative, interdisciplinary team to actively contribute to executing the company's vision.
- Maintain a high level of scientific expertise aligned with project requirements, expand the scientific capabilities of the SynBio group, and serve as a scientific resource for MojiaBio
- Lead and manage biofoundry system including developing and optimizing methods, DBTL workflows, high-throughput analytic systems, and data analysis.
- Provide mentorship, guidance, and support to team members, fostering a culture of collaboration, knowledge sharing, and skill development.
- Plan, coordinate, and execute biofoundry related works, ensuring on-time and on-budget delivery of project objectives.
- Utilize statistical analysis, programming languages such as Python or R, or other bioinformatics tools to interpret and draw insights from large datasets generated by high-throughput experiments.
- Effectively communicate with cross-functional teams to tackle complex challenges in protein and enzyme engineering projects.
- Keep up-to-date with the latest advancements in protein and enzyme engineering, applying emerging technologies to enhance strategies and project outcomes.
- Implement quality control measures to ensure the accuracy and reliability of experimental data and results.
- Participate with IP team to protect, enrich and increase value of the company's technology IP portfolio.
- Ensure that all research activities adhere to regulatory guidelines and safety standards.
Qualifications
- Ph.D. degree in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Biotechnology, or related fields with a minimum of 6 years of experience working in biofoundry facilities. MSc with significant relevant experience will be considered.
- Demonstrated success in leading or managing projects using biofoundry and automated systems.
- Extensive experience in advanced molecular biology, utilizing a range of biofoundry equipment including HPLC, LC-MS, GC-MS, flow cytometry, bioreactors, liquid handling systems, and in vitro and in vivo high-throughput analytic systems. Proficiency in basic programming for data analytics will be considered as an advantage.
- Strong scientific and analytical skills are a must. Candidates should have the ability to efficiently multitask, prioritize tasks effectively, and bring projects to successful conclusions.
- Proven leadership abilities, including the capacity to motivate and inspire high-performing teams, are essential.
- Effective organizational skills, including setting, prioritizing, and achieving research goals, are a key requirement.
- Solid strategic thinking is necessary for developing and articulating program strategy, risk mitigation plans, and milestones.
- Capable to adapt and work well in a collaborative, fast-paced work setting, contributing to a positive and inclusive team culture.
