The IT Executive is a professional responsible for maintaining and managing information technology systems and networks within an organization. They ensure the functionality and efficiency of computer and information systems by establishing protocols, providing technical support, and advising on IT choices.
The IT Executive performs various tasks to maintain IT systems, including installing and configuring software and hardware, monitoring system performance, troubleshooting issues, and providing technical support and training. They act as a link between end users and higher-level support, collaborate with other professionals, and ensure compliance with IT standards and functionality. Their role involves both technical and administrative responsibilities in managing IT systems within an organization.
Operational Responsibilities:
1. Oversee the daily operations of computer networks and systems to ensure they run efficiently and securely
2. Installing, configuring, and maintaining hardware and software
3. Managing network servers, ensuring all systems are up-to-date and operating smoothly
4. Ensure the internal IT structure of the company remains robust and efficient, handling tasks such as software upgrades, user training, troubleshooting, and network management
5. Serving as administrator for various corporate software systems
6. Deploying and enforcing security policies and procedures, oversee security measures to protect data and manage access controls.
7. Provide IT/technical support to employees, resolving any IT-related issues
8. Assisting with onboarding of new colleagues.
Executive Responsibilities
1. Institute protocols for the use of IT across departments and projects
2. Provide advice on the most suitable IT choices
3. Provide training & technical support for systems and networks
4. Act as link between end users and higher level support
5. Monitor system and network performance
6. Perform troubleshooting, repairs and data restoration
7. Performance maintenance activities (e.g. backups)
8. Maintain licenses and upgrade schedules
9. Procuring, maintaining, and administering computers and office equipment
10. Recommending and implementing improvements in procedures and equipment utilisation
11. Collaborate with and/or manage third party vendors contracts and SLAs to maintain standards and functionality
Requirements:
1. BSc/BA or equivalent in information technology, computer science or IT administration, with networking knowledge.
2. Experience as an IT administrator / coordinator or similar role
3. Understanding of TCP/IP protocols and LAN/WAN configuration
4. Experience in network management and help desk support is ideal
5. Knowledge of IT systems, applications and remote control tools
6. Ability to troubleshoot and repair issues
7. Ability to work independently
8. Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
