Main Purpose of the Job
Plan, lead and execute investment projects and coordinate contribution of all stakeholders (from investment project charter until vertical start-up and agreed sustained performance is established) to achieve the project defined capability to support the business for either or all of them: Delight the Consumers, Excel in Compliance and/or Get a Competitive Advantage, by managing a cross-functional and multidisciplinary team whose objective is to assure that the invested resources bring the return of investment expected with a flawless execution.
Key Outputs
Before starting the project design phase:
Define the project team, project scope, success criteria and milestone deliverables that support business goals in collaboration with senior management and stakeholders. Ensure available standards and best practices, as well as understanding of current category loss tree are revised as part of the project planning , to ensure that project design credit (AIP) will be efficiently utilized. Build the investment project charter and ensure that it is strictly followed throughout the project.
During project design phase:
Execute the basic and detailed design of the project based on Nestlé Corporate Business Principles, Nestlé Corporate and Category standards, local regulations, the defined User Requirements Specifications and the TPM characteristics of a unit operation (safety, quality, affordability, maintainability, operability and reliability). Ensure by design the workers, and operators, safety during both the construction and the ongoing operation of the plant. Ensure available feedback from previous projects is leveraged to prevent waste and optimize execution. Ensure Category standards and best practices are leveraged in the design to enable Manufacturing Excellence by Leading the Target Setting Allocation exercise for at leas the bottleneck and critical equipment.
During the project implementation phase:
Lead the team and coordinate the contribution of all the stakeholders, to ensure that the fixed asset side of the project is implemented (e.g. buildings and equipment construction, testing, installation and commissioning) in accordance with the defined category standards, timing, cost and quality. And that all of the elements of the project (including technical people training, as needed) in performed in such a way that safety is always guaranteed on the whole project site and a vertical start-up is assured.
During the start-up phase of the project:
Lead the team and coordinate the contribution of all stakeholders to ensure a vertical start-up meeting manufacturing excellence criteria and required production volumes. Complete an smooth handover to operations after the qualification and verification of the installation. Support the preparation and distribution of the project documentation, including the project final report, Project Defect Analysis (PDA) and feedback to the Maintenance Prevention System. Ensure that the investment project charter has been fulfilled and that the project scope is achieved within the agreed cost and timing. Manage the allocation of all expenditure to clearly defined assets and the entry into the asset register
During the whole project life:
Be the project team leader, meaning integrating, motivating, feed backing, coaching, developing, managing and evaluating team members and being their support and liaison with the steering committee and all the project's stakeholders. Define the project change management plans. Determine the need for change requests, and either approve or reject changes as authorised or submit them to the SC. Ensure that the highest principles of ethical conduct on behalf of the community, consumer, company and the engineering profession are adhered to. Keep all stakeholders informed and trigger extraordinary steering committee meetings as needed. Keep all the required communication channels open. Ensure that the procedures for protecting Nestlé's technological and proprietary knowhow are in place and actively being implemented.
Key Knowledge
• Project management accreditation: Technical Instructions & Guidelines Management System ; Sound understanding of contracts, construction law and permitting requirements; certification
• Engineering and Manufacturing: Nestlé Engineering Standards (St 00.907.02), Manufacturing Performance (GI.21.010) and Innovation & Renovation process (GI.00.107-1)
• Nestlé Leadership Principles and Group organization: , Nestlé Leadership Framework.
• Degree/Diploma in an Engineering discipline
• Nestlé product and process technologies - with NPTC & Factories experience as required
• Financial and budget analysis and tracking: In-depth knowledge of Costing Guidelines and Finance & Accounting principles; Operational Business Drivers
• Food plant principles and hygienic engineering: Food processing plants and technologies (Maintenance and Utilities), food safety, hygienic engineering
• Nestlé SH&E standards
• People Development & Management tools (including PDP, Talent Review, coaching, competencies training, career & succession planning, recruitment and compensation)
• Nestlé quality, regulatory, IP and business standards: QM Policies (including among others NGHE, NEMS, NSAT, ISO 14001, OHSAS 18001)
• TPM, Early Management and Lean design methodologies at Nestlé
• Deep understanding of product category value chain (e.g. row materials, manufacturing, distribution).
• Understanding of regulatory affairs and packaging and labelling designs.
• Understanding of Local regulations for both: plants operation and plants construction.
Key Experiences
• Manufacturing projects management (”making it happen”): 5 years experience in an international project environment context within which, projects were defined and budgeted, assessed and implemented (entire project life cycle)
• Capital Investment projects management in food industry
• Determination of methods to minimise the likelihood of injuries or damages to people and/or equipment (SH&E)
• Factory operations (as required)
• NPTC (as required)
• Participation in Early Management, MCIP and NGHE workshop and Factory Engineering College.
