IT Business Analyst

Position Objective:

The IT Business Analyst will be responsible for thoroughly understanding and mapping out our existing business processes, as well as identifying areas for improvement and pain points. The IT Business Analyst will work closely with stakeholders to gather requirements, develop detailed functional specifications, and ensure that solutions meet business needs. Additionally, the IT Business Analyst will manage projects as required and function as the liaison between IT and other functions to ensure alignment.

Responsibilities:

  • Function as a liaison between IT and other functions, to ensure that business needs are met by effectively conveying complex technical concepts in a non-technical manner. Facilitate communication and understanding between all parties.
  • Thoroughly understand and map out existing business processes, including functional and non-functional requirements, use cases, process flows, data models, and user stories.
  • Utilize design thinking and customer journey mapping approaches to develop solutions that meet the needs of the business.
  • Work closely with business stakeholders, and end-users to elicit, analyze, and document detailed business objectives and functional requirements. This will involve conducting interviews, workshops, and brainstorming sessions.
  • Analyze business processes to identify pain points and propose areas for improvement.
  • Collaborate with development team/vendors to ensure that requirements are accurately translated into technical specifications, and proposed solutions are aligned with the overall IT architecture and strategy.
  • Conduct user acceptance testing to ensure that solutions meet business needs.
  • Manage project plans, timelines, and budgets as required.
  • Identify and communicate risks and issues that may impact project delivery.
  • Assist in the validation of developed solutions against documented requirements. Conduct testing scenarios and coordinate user acceptance testing (UAT).
  • Support end-users through the implementation process, including training sessions, change management initiatives, and post-implementation support.

  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to multitask and manage competing priorities
  • Ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Experience with business process mapping and analysis
  • Experience with design thinking and customer journey mapping
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or related field
  • 5+ years of experience in a similar role
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
  • Experience with project management software, such as Asana, Trello, or Jira
  • Project management experience is an advantage
  • Knowledge of education industry is a plus

Working Conditions:

  • International school environment

Terms of Employment:

  • Working hours: 9.00am to 6.00pm - Monday to Friday, plus occasional meetings outside working hours
  • Medical Benefits: Medical insurance provided where applicable
  • Annual Leave: 15 days of annual leave
  • Sick Leave/Hosp: Up to 14 days of sick leave and 46 days of hospitalization leave
  • Reference Check: Required
  • Background Check: Required

The job holder’s responsibility for promoting and safeguarding the welfare of children and young person’s for whom s/he is responsible, or with whom s/he comes into contact will be to adhere to and ensure compliance with the relevant Cognita Safeguarding; Child Protection Policy and Procedures at all times. If in the course of carrying out the duties of the role, the job holder identifies any instance that a child is suffering or likely to suffer significant harm either at school or at home, s/he must report any concerns to the School’s Child Protection Officer/Designated Safeguarding Lead or to the Head or indeed to the Regional CEO so that a referral can be made accordingly to the relevant third party services.
