Job Description:
Position Overview:The General Manager will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the company's operations, including sales, customer service, inventory management, marketing, and staff development. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in retail management, excellent leadership skills, and a passion for the furniture industry. This role requires a strategic thinker who can balance day-to-day operational demands with long-term business goals.
Working Hours
The store is open 7 days a week and as the senior escalation point you will be expected to be available to handle queries or fill in for missing staff and so 6 and 7 day working weeks will be regularly required.
This role requires contact between Singapore and also European factories so much of the communication takes place after working hours in Singapore typical hours will be 9am to 11pm, and includes working weekends.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operational Management:Oversee daily operations of the retail store, ensuring smooth and efficient processes.
Manage inventory levels, ordering, and stock management to minimize costs and meet customer demand.
Ensure the store is well-maintained, visually appealing, and aligned with brand standards.
- Sales and Customer Service:Develop and implement sales strategies to achieve revenue targets and business growth.
Monitor sales performance and analyze key metrics to identify areas for improvement.
Foster a customer-centric culture by ensuring excellent customer service and handling escalated customer issues.
- Staff Management:Recruit, train, and mentor store staff, creating a motivated and high-performing team.
Schedule and manage staff to ensure optimal coverage and productivity.
Conduct regular performance reviews and provide feedback and development opportunities.
- Marketing and Promotion:Collaborate with the marketing team to plan and execute marketing campaigns and promotional activities.
Develop in-store events and promotions to drive traffic and sales.
Utilize social media and other digital platforms to enhance brand visibility and engagement.
- Financial Management:Prepare and manage the store's budget, ensuring financial goals are met.
Monitor expenses and implement cost-saving measures without compromising quality.
Provide regular financial reports to senior management.
- Strategic Planning:Develop and implement business strategies to achieve long-term goals and growth.
Identify market trends and opportunities for expansion or diversification.
Build and maintain relationships with suppliers, partners, and key stakeholders.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Retail Management
- Postgraduate marketing qualification
- Minimum 10 years of experience in retail management, preferably in the furniture industry and 20 years marketing experience to include advertising, branding, digital marketing, direct marketing.
- Minimum 12 years experience in space saving furniture
- Proven track record of achieving sales targets and driving business growth.
- Strong leadership and team management skills.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills.
- Ability to analyze data and make informed business decisions.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and retail management software.
- Knowledge of the Singapore retail market
