FHS Data Model Architect

Job Objectives

The jobholder, a member of the Flight Hour Services (FHS) organization, based in Singapore, reports operationally to the HO FHS Business Project Support.


The FHS organization defines and delivers tailored packages of maintenance services designed to meet the overall requirements of the customer, ranging from FHS-components up to a Tailored Support Package (TSP). Such packages include component maintenance, spare management, airframe maintenance and engineering services that are delivered by cooperating with a partner, suppliers such as OEMs, MROs or other service providers, subsidiaries or between several Operating Units.


In the frame of the digital transition, FHS is in the midst of reinventing its way to monitor, analyze and report operational performances. To support this transition, a project "Click & Trust" was launched at the end of 2022 to evaluate the capacity of BI (Business Intelligence) tools like Qlik Sense to help FHS people to better follow their activities and bring operational benefits. A solution has been developed and has already provided benefits to the FHS users. Therefore, FHS is now willing to invest in this solution in order to:

  • Ensure sustainability and a run mode for operations on what has been developed,
  • Extend the project to other FHS scope (customer loop, supply chain, inventory, program, …)

The current tool developed relies on two main principles:

  • Having a strong and unique model (single source of truth) where we link together all the sources of data. All calculations will therefore be made based on this model.
  • Advanced capacity of data visualization (by using Qlik Sense). The purpose is clearly to maximize the capability to use data in a limited quantity of pages.

In that matter, the Team now needs a Data Model Architect to actively participate in the success of the project. This person accountable for managing, modifying and health monitoring of Qlik data model and must have good capacity to liaise with people working in business to have a deep understanding of how the business is working and what they need. The person shall have past experience in other IT projects with a strong link with business. A capability to construct data models and strong visualization solutions using Qlik Sense is a must.


Job Responsibilities

  • Lead Qlik model developments by planning out the data model based on inputs coming from Product owners in Toulouse and business experts in multiple regions.
  • Drumbeat the Data analyst in Toulouse, KL and SG in coordination with the Project Lead and HO Business Project Support so as to improve, manage and maintain high quality data model for the FHS perimeter.
  • Lead Data Analysts from multiple regions such as Toulouse, KL and SG to develop, test and validate new calculations, reports and visualizations
  • Advanced knowledge in developing, testing and validating changes to the data model based on discussion with business experts worldwide.
  • Accountable for securing the sustainability of the model by taking all necessary actions (industrialization documentation, …),
  • Secure application update to ensure that business access to the most refreshed data,
  • Work with IT teams to secure the refresh frequency of the data sources,
  • Ensure data model is built in Qlik and in the Skywise platform in an industrial manner, under the right format and quality standard.
  • Animate business stakeholders and key-users contributions to the FHS community,
  • Develop, manage and improve end-to-end KPI landscape in cooperation with Airbus-internal stakeholder and Service Providers/Customers when necessary,
  • Significantly contributes to the performance of several Business teams/domains,
  • Support supply chain process & digitalization strategy definition,
  • Identify and ingest improvement potentials into Airbus organizations,
  • Ensure compliance with Airbus data governance,
  • Conceptual problem solving requires the combination of techniques. Application of conceptual approaches to concrete data analysis problems
  • Development of possibly innovative concepts in a discipline or the mobilization of concepts in several disciplines.
  • Be an advocate for change.

Secondary Responsibilities

  • Provide consultancy to subcontracted developers on available data, assist on its link with FHS operational physical activities and provide logic to filter data appropriate
  • Share experience and provide support to Data Analyst in team in building visualizations and Data Models
  • Support FHS Tools Industrialization by reducing Business Owned tools in Skywise through developments in Qlik
  • Ensure smooth transition of FHS data products into SAP AP1 core model in Qlik Sense
  • Support improvement projects within FHS to improve business processes and performance
  • Ensure compliance with Airbus data governance on applications development.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor in Information Systems or related degrees (e.g Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Aerospace/Industrial Engineering etc.)
  • Bachelor in Engineering, Supply Chain or Informatics degree or equivalent
  • Minimum 8 years of experience as a Data Analyst with In-depth work-experience in data analytics
  • Data analysis background and experience with Business Intelligence tools
  • Strong knowledge of Qlik Sense.
  • Detailed knowledge of data analytics tools such as Skywise Slate, SAP Analytics Cloud, Spotfire, etc.
  • Familiarity with Agile development methodology is a plus.
  • Skywise/digital development knowledge is a plus.
  • Experience in the Aviation Maintenance industry or Supply Chain industry is a plus
  • Ability to lead and support Data analyst in multiple regions
  • Able to work independently as well as collaborate effectively as part of a Regional team.
  • Able to adapt and search documentation and datasets for continuous learning
  • Analytical mind with ability to work with large amounts of data to discover patterns or trends, and to form conclusions based on findings
  • Good interpersonal, strong troubleshooting and problem solving skills
  • Mindset of being curious, reaching-out to others, speaking up and listening up
  • Team player with positive attitude
  • Able to manage multiple tasks at the same time and motivated to take on new challenges
  • Availability to travel overseas when required
