PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND AUTHORITIES:

  • Responsible for the shunting and parking of buses from the initial arrival at the depot entrance, through the fuel bay filling process, through the bus wash and parking in the relevant zone required.
  • To ensure there is no backlog of vehicles awaiting entrance into the depot causing vehicles to trail onto the highway.
  • To Liaise with workshop supervisors to ensure all requests for buses are fulfilled and parked in the allocated bays.
  • To Liaise with workshop supervisors to ensure all vehicles requested to be unfit the following day have vehicle unfit stickers placed in them.
  • To Liaise with workshop supervisors to ensure all vehicles requested to be on split shifts the following day have the appropriate stickers placed in them.
  • To assist all relevant parties when required for road tests or calibration driving.
  • When required under the instruction of the workshop supervisor, take replacement vehicles out to BC’s who have defective vehicles and return to the depo with the defective vehicle under caution.
  • Responsible for the uploading of EDS programmes as and when required.
  • To ensure vehicles are parked up properly and safely for deployment the next day.
  • To ensure a banksman is in place when parking vehicles to ensure no collisions occur.
  • To undertake any additional reasonable duties at the request of your Line Manager.
  • To undertake any training and development activities at the request of your Line Manager.

SKILLS, EXPERIENCE, CONDITIONS SPECIFICATION:

  • It is essential that you are aware of the Commercial objectives of the business and understand fully how your role can influence those objectives.
  • You will need to be competent in taking clear instruction and fully actioning those instructions to ensure the continual flow of the engineering process.
  • Overtime will be required to be worked for the needs of the business on a regular basis, but cannot be guaranteed.
  • You will need to have good organisational skills, to maximise your time effectively and ensure that none of your customers have excessive waiting time.
  • It is essential that you have a full understanding of relevant legislation specifically the Road Traffic Act, Workplace Safety & Health Act and the Employment Act.

SAFETY AND COMPANY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • To adhere to all Tower Transit policies and procedures.
  • To take care of your own safety and the safety of others at all times by complying with your responsibilities, particularly in relation to Work Safety and Health Act.
  • To report to your Line Manager or a Supervisor any injury, collision of dangerous occurrence in which you may have been involved, or are aware of having taken place at your work location, or any concern you have about health and safety issues. *Officer and Assistant may be used interchangeably
