R&D Hardware Project Manager

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Lead the planning and execution of hardware development projects, including defining project scope, objectives, and deliverables.
  2. Develop detailed project plans, schedules, and budgets, and track progress against milestones and deadlines.
  3. Coordinate cross-functional teams, including engineers, designers, technicians, and external vendors, to ensure alignment and timely execution of project tasks.
  4. Manage project resources, including personnel, equipment, and materials, to ensure efficient utilization and cost-effective project delivery.
  5. Identify and mitigate project risks and issues, and develop contingency plans as needed to keep projects on track.
  6. Communicate project status, updates, and key milestones to stakeholders, including R&D leadership, executive management, and other relevant parties.
  7. Ensure adherence to project management best practices, quality standards, and regulatory requirements throughout the project lifecycle.
  8. Foster a collaborative and innovative work environment that encourages creativity, problem-solving, and continuous improvement.
  9. Drive continuous process improvements in project management methodologies, tools, and workflows.
  10. Lead post-project reviews and lessons learned sessions to capture insights and best practices for future projects.

Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field. Advanced degree or relevant certifications (e.g., PMP, Prince2) is a plus.
  2. Proven experience as a project manager in hardware development projects, with a track record of successfully delivering complex projects on time and within budget.
  3. Strong technical expertise in hardware design and development processes, including familiarity with CAD software, PCB design, prototyping, and testing methodologies.
  4. Excellent project management skills, including the ability to develop project plans, manage resources, and track progress using project management tools (e.g., Microsoft Project, Jira).
  5. Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to effectively lead and motivate cross-functional teams and communicate with stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
  6. Analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify project risks and issues, and develop effective mitigation strategies.
  7. Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  8. Experience with Agile or other iterative development methodologies is a plus.
  9. Knowledge of regulatory requirements and standards related to hardware development (e.g., ISO 9001, IEC 60601) is desirable.
