Responsibilities:
- To provide legal support and guidance on matters related to digital technology, online business operations, and electronic commerce.
- To ensure compliance with relevant laws, protect the company's interests, and manage legal risks associated with digital and online activities.
- This role requires a strong understanding of legal principles, business operations, and the evolving landscape of technology and online commerce.
- Legal Compliance: Advise the company on compliance with applicable laws and regulations governing digital technology, e-commerce, data protection, privacy, electronic transactions, consumer protection, intellectual property, and advertising/marketing practices.
- Contract Drafting and Negotiation: Draft, review, and negotiate IT. contracts, contracts related to digital services, e-commerce platforms, software licensing, data protection, online advertising, and other agreements necessary for online business operations. This includes terms of service, privacy policies, partnership agreements, and vendor contracts.
- Intellectual Property Protection: Protect and manage the company's intellectual property rights in the digital and online environment. Conduct trademark searches, file applications, handle intellectual property disputes, and ensure compliance with copyright and patent laws.
- Data Privacy and Security: Advise the company on data privacy and security practices, including compliance with applicable data protection laws. Develop privacy policies, data breach response plans, and conduct audits to ensure compliance.
- E-commerce Regulations: Stay updated on laws and regulations specific to online commerce, such as online consumer protection regulations, electronic signatures, electronic contracts, and online dispute resolution. Provide guidance to the company on compliance and risk mitigation.
- Digital Marketing and Advertising: Advise on legal issues related to digital marketing campaigns, online advertising, influencer collaborations, and social media promotions. Ensure compliance with advertising regulations, disclosure requirements, and intellectual property rights.
- Dispute Resolution: Manage and resolve legal disputes related to digital and e-commerce matters, including intellectual property disputes, contract disputes, domain name disputes, and consumer complaints. Engage external counsel when necessary and work towards negotiated settlements or litigate cases.
- Risk Management: Identify and assess legal risks associated with digital and e-commerce activities. Develop strategies and policies to mitigate risks and protect the company's interests.
- Collaboration and Training: Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including IT, marketing, sales, and compliance, to provide legal guidance and support. Conduct training sessions to educate employees on legal requirements and best practices.
- Industry Awareness: Stay updated on emerging trends, technological advancements, and legal developments in the digital and e-commerce space. Provide proactive advice to the company regarding potential legal risks and opportunities.
Requirements:
- Minimum 12 years’ PQE experience working in law firm(s) and commercial sector.
- Strong knowledge of laws and regulations pertaining to digital technology, e-commerce, data protection, intellectual property, and online consumer rights.
- Experience in providing legal advice and support to companies on digital and online business operations within the retail industry
- Familiarity with relevant laws and regulations.
- Excellent drafting and negotiation skills for contracts and legal documents.
- Ability to analyze complex legal issues and provide practical solutions.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with colleagues and stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
- Good command of both written and spoken English.

- Experience working with MNC and/or FMCG companies
