We are seeking a team leader in Asia to oversee our coverage of the wealthiest people in the region and beyond. You will lead a group based in multiple countries that determines financial affairs of more than 100 billionaires, from those behind China's property developers to India's conglomerates to tech and real-estate tycoons across the continent.
You will need to have an understanding of how this powerful group of individuals and families in Asia influence politics, society and economies through how they invest and give away their fortunes.
You will be a part of a global team that leads all aspects of the Bloomberg Billionaires Index, a daily ranking of the world's richest 500 people, and share responsibility for stories on family offices. You should be highly adept with data-driven stories, have a strong understanding of regulatory filings and accounting and contribute to the smooth running of the index.
Candidates should be able to handle breaking news stories under deadline and craft longer-form features. The person should understand the importance of digital and social media and work well with reporters to make our stories must-reads for broad audiences. As the Wealth team's go-to person in Asia, decisive decision-making and the capability to work closely with regional leaders is a must.
We’ll trust you to:
- Own every story, by leading a team that breaks news, delivers insightful enterprise that connects the dots for readers, and excels at presenting stories in creative ways
- Maintain a culture of innovation and strong news judgement
- Build influential relationships across the newsroom to ensure our coverage resonates globally and across all platforms
- Exercise sound news judgement and level-headedness in a fast-paced and dynamic news environment
You'll need to have:
- At least 7 years of experience in financial journalism
- At least 3 years of experience in a real-time news environment
- Experience leading, mentoring or developing people in a newsroom
- Strong writing and editing skills, with a particular focus on accuracy, precision and speed for sensitive, anonymously sourced stories
- The ability to break down silos and connect across teams, groups, platforms and regions.
- A working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and valuation methodology
- Proficiency in both spoken and written English
- Demonstrated continuous career growth within an organization
- Bachelor's degree or degree-equivalent qualifications
