Vice President of Feedstock Development

Position Overview:

Our Client a pioneering leader in transforming waste carbon into renewable solutions, is seeking a strategic and experienced Vice President of Feedstock Development to drive the expansion and optimization of our global feedstock portfolio. This senior position will play a critical role in shaping the future of our feedstock supply chain, focusing on securing and developing sustainable waste oil feedstock sources through mergers and acquisitions, partnerships, and the exploration of novel feedstock options. Reporting directly to the Chief Commercial Officer (CCO) and working closely with the CEO and the board, the VP of Feedstock Development will be instrumental in advancing our mission of sustainable innovation.


Key Responsibilities:

1. Global Feedstock Strategy:

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive strategy to expand company's access to a variety of renewable feedstocks worldwide, including Animal Fat, Palm Oil Mill Effluent (POME), Fish Fat, Technical Corn Oil, cover crops, tree oils, and novel feedstocks.
  • Implement strategies for medium to long-term feedstock supply, enhancing the company's sustainability and growth.

2. Supply Chain Economics:

  • Understand and optimize the economics of the supply chain from the origin of feedstock to aggregation points.
  • Develop and implement strategies to reduce costs and improve efficiency in the feedstock supply chain.

3. Industry Relationships and Market Knowledge:

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key players in the industry, including suppliers, partners, and regulatory bodies.
  • Stay informed about industry trends, business models, and competitive dynamics.

4. Mergers, Acquisitions, and Partnerships:

  • Lead M&A activities, joint ventures (JVs), and partnerships to expand feedstock capabilities, including due diligence processes.
  • Forge robust partnerships and alliances to support feedstock development and sustainability.

5. Innovation in Feedstock Development:

  • Innovate in the area of novel feedstock sources, aligning with global sustainability trends and company goals.
  • Explore emerging opportunities such as cover crops, tree nut oil, and other novel feedstocks.

6. Regional Focus and Expansion:

  • Lead efforts across multiple regions, starting with South East Asia (excluding China) and potentially expanding to Australia, New Zealand, North and South America, the Middle East, and Europe.
  • Collaborate with internal teams, including Feedstock Supply, Finance, Legal, and Market Intelligence, to align strategic objectives and operational execution.

7. Team Leadership and Development:

  • Build and lead a high-performing feedstock development team, fostering a culture of innovation and collaboration.
  • Prepare to manage a team of 2-3 direct reports in the future, providing mentorship and professional development opportunities.

8. Project Management and Execution:

  • Work closely with the CCO, CEO, and board to bring projects across the finish line, ensuring alignment with strategic goals and timelines.
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring effective execution and delivery.

9. Logistical and Regulatory Expertise:

  • Understand logistical requirements and regulations related to feedstock transportation and processing.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and standards.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Agriculture, Supply Chain Management, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
  • 5-10 years of experience in the feedstock or renewable energy industry, with a thorough understanding of global feedstock availability and types.
  • Proven experience in supply chain economics, M&A, JVs, partnerships, and due diligence.
  • Strong background in feedstock supply chain management, with specific expertise in mergers and acquisitions, partnership development, and sustainability initiatives.
  • Excellent leadership skills with experience in building and leading high-performing teams.
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to assess companies for strategic compatibility.
  • Experience with novel feedstocks such as cover crops, intermediate crops, and tree oils.
  • In-depth knowledge of logistical requirements and regulatory compliance.
  • Familiarity with the economic and cultural dynamics of the South East Asian market; additional experience in other global markets is a plus.
  • Strong financial acumen and experience working closely with legal and finance departments to manage and forecast budgets and financial impacts of feedstock initiatives.
  • Willingness to travel extensively to develop and manage a global feedstock portfolio.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with senior leadership and board members.
