About our client: Our client is a leading global specialty chemicals manufacturer.

*Salary range: $6,500 - $8,000 (gross)
About the role:
Production
- Lead/conduct shift production meeting/toolbox and actively participate to daily meeting,
- Supervise daily production by setting goals and objectives for the shift team consistent with safety procedures and production schedule,
- Lead and ensure that all shift logs are complete for area of responsibility,
- Report and make sure the team reports near misses and propose solutions,
- Continuously ensure operation personnel are trained in current and accurate relevant SOPs and that tasks done by operating personnel comply with documented procedures. Using a checklist for check and balance,
- Make sure of the understanding and agreement of changes in the plant by all the team prior to their implementation according to the MOC procedure,
- Take lead and empower operation personnel in problem solving to propose solutions/suggestions and feedback to management and ultimately implement improvements,
- Create a problem solving culture for the team,
- Coach new staff to operate DCS / field equipment according to SOP,
- Support Production Manager in maintaining all quality, safety and environmental compliance requirements with applicable local and company standards,
- Create and review of SOP for the area of responsibility,
- Ensure that operational staff performs process sampling and analysis as and when required,
- Involved in hiring of operational personnel and also empowered to give verbal warning for basic disciplinary issues i.e. punctuality,
- Make sure shifting of ISO tank on Site is done safely and on time if appointed,
- Oversee that operational staff issue maintenance notifications, issue, approve work permits, and ensure contractors understand and follow all safety requirements of the site,
- Lead shift in performing Total Preventive Maintenance (TPM) works as required on equipment, and work with maintenance to assure all routine Preventive/Predictive maintenance is performed according to schedule.
Management
- Participates in operational staff training needs, lead On-the-Job-Training (OJT), and acts as coach for new Technicians. Responsible for SOP creation to cascade to the newer Technicians,
- Manage shift manpower taking into account overtime hours constraint,
- Assume and perform duties as Site Incident Commander (SIC) during Site Emergency,
- Take lead for operational staff probation and performance review.
HSE
- Respects and enforces waste management,
- Lead by example for the team as a responsible member of Emergency Response Team,
- Garner the support from operational staff to respond to all emergency situations and apply as per SOP.
About you:
- Technical academic background with 10 years of working experience in a chemical manufacturing environment.
- Practical knowledge in chemical engineering and production operations.
- Able to manage risks associated with a hazardous chemical processes.
- Prior experience in building and leading a shift team.
- Safety oriented
- Able to perform under pressure, and manage multiple priorities.
- Skilled in report writing and able to make decisions independently.
