Job Description
The National University of Singapore, Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, seeks an experienced and dynamic individual to be a Research Fellow within Prof. Maier's research group. This position will lead a research and support team that conducts clinical trials and manages day-to-day operations.
Key Responsibilities
Clinical Trial Innovation
- Development of innovative clinical trial protocols testing geroprotectors
- Introduction and improvement of biological, clinical and digital biomarkers of ageing into clinical trial protocols
- Being part of the establishment of international clinical trial networks
Funding and Resource Acquisition
- Lead efforts to secure funding for clinical trials through grant applications, industry collaborations, and other funding sources
- Identify and pursue relevant grant opportunities from government agencies, foundations, and other funding bodies
- Support the development and maintenance of relationships with potential industry partners for collaborative clinical trials and sponsored research
- Oversee the preparation of high-quality grant proposals and funding applications, ensuring alignment with funder requirements and research objectives
- Collaborate with the institution's grant administration and industry liaison offices to facilitate the grant application and contract negotiation processes
- Explore and pursue alternative funding sources, such as donor campaigns, when appropriate
- Manage and allocate funding resources effectively to support the successful execution of clinical trials and research projects
Key Responsibilities
Clinical Trial Operations
- Oversee the execution of clinical trials, ensuring adherence to protocols, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and good clinical practice (GCP)
- Lead the recruitment, scheduling, and management of research participants
- Supervise the collection and maintenance of clinical trial documentation, including data records and equipment maintenance logs
- Evaluate and validate new assessment methods before implementing them in clinical research studies
- Ensure compliance with clinical inventory management procedures
Team Leadership and Management
- Provide effective leadership and guidance to the research team, fostering a collaborative and productive work environment
- Oversee the allocation and management of workloads, ensuring efficient utilisation of resources
- Develop and implement policies and procedures to streamline operations and maintain compliance with regulatory standards
- Identify training needs and facilitate the professional development of team members
- Build and nurture a positive team culture that promotes excellence, innovation, and continuous improvement
Qualifications
- PhD in Medicine, Nursing, Allied Health, Life Sciences, or a related field
- Fascination for the ageing process and experience in observational and intervention studies in humans
- Minimum of 5 years of experience working in a hospital, clinic, or research setting
- Proven leadership and team management skills, with experience in supervisory or administrative roles
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities, with the ability to collaborate effectively with participants, staff, and external stakeholders
- Familiarity with clinical research protocols, standard operating procedures, and good clinical practice
- Strong organisational and problem-solving skills, with meticulous attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a dynamic and fast-paced environment
