A key partner in significant product cost reduction activities, in early phase innovation working closely with the design engineers and/or in the manufacturing phase.
Responsibilities
- New product sourcing and management. Responsible of performing research and analysis to identify project requirements, conceptualizing plans, designing, and developing systems, establishing guidelines and goals, and creating strategy to optimize operational activities for new product introduction.
- Work with Engineering, Quality, Commodity and NPI to ensure success in new product development and launch.
- Manage and coordinate in earlier supplier involvement in new product introduction from part design phase through mass production, ensure critical timeline and target COSS are met.
- Ensures that Cost, Quality and Availability are achieved for product development phase and through their full life cycle.
- Manage supplier onboarding process and selection with integrity, alignment across value-chain and value engineering.
- Manage cost activities,
- Responsible in ensuring best-in-class cost, thru negotiation and/or tear down activities.
- Identifies cost drivers to influence design decision making towards target costing.
- Product/module cost models and quotes are up to date at launch and effectively rolled out.
- Reviewing and negotiating supplier terms and conditions exceptions to mitigate risk.
- Support price negotiations with opportunities to drive short- and long-term cost reduction improvement.
- Build strong, value-added relationships with suppliers, internal customers, and cross functional departments.
- Collaborate with Supplier Quality in the new supplier/component release process, including compliance and sustainability aspects.
- Partnering Category team, ensuring BU product requirement and supplier technology alignment are included in building Commodity Strategy. Supporting and executing category strategy.
- Analyze lead times, identify critical paths, and prioritize demand requirements.
- Participate in project meetings/brainstorming sessions to identify solutions available
- Performs other duties as assigned
Experience/Qualifications
- Bachelor Degree in Electrical / Mechanical Engineering with 5 years or more of relevant experience.
- Purchasing experience is a plus
- Working knowledge of geometric tolerances
- Experience creating or modifying manufacturing processes and procedures.
- Experience with overseas suppliers
- Understand Bill of Material (BOM) structure, able to interpret technical drawings / specifications and familiar with Engineering Change Process Experience in Operation Management or capital equipment design is a plus.
- Strong Analytical, planning and interpersonal skills as well as experience in engaging stakeholders
- Positive and able to work in fast-paced environment.
- Mature, independent and results-oriented
- Able to work with different departments / functional groups.
- Some travel is required for the role.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word & PowerPoint)
