Marketing & Communications Manager

The Marketing & Communications Manager - Global Energy, I+E is responsible for leading, developing, implementing and maintaining an agreed internal and external program of global communication and marketing initiatives and activities across I+E Energy Sector. This supports the alignment with I+E and the SJ Group’s global brand strategies, as well as organisational and divisional business goals.

The incumbent will role model the SJ Group’s values, ethics and code of conduct and ensure all business activities are carried out in accordance with these guiding principles.


Key Accountability 1: Responsible for the strategic planning, implementing and managing the I+E Transport Sector marketing initiatives in line with corporate and business line growth plans.

  • Provide initiatives and plans to relevant managers for approval;
  • Drive the governance and development of marketing material for brochures, publications, presentations and website;
  • Facilitate external marketing events, conferences and other client events as required, with a particular focus on showcasing key areas of expertise and building client relationships;
  • Work closely with the I+E marketing team to explore new and innovative marketing channels and best practices amongst competitors;
  • Support the Bidding and Submissions team with content, testimonials, templates, CVs, PDS library, OMS, as required;
  • Strategically advise the participation industry award submissions and leverage award recognition in market.

Key Accountability 2: Proactively identify and deliver a range of rich, relevant and engaging content to drive brand awareness and improve client acquisition and retention.

  • Generate marketing content from within the business to align with external promotion and growth;
  • Implement marketing and communication campaigns as they present themselves with clear action plans;
  • Communicate prospective campaigns and strategies to the marketing and communications team;
  • Assist with evaluating the effectiveness of all marketing content and communications activities;
  • Explore, research and present market best practice to ensure our brand remains competitive in market.

Key Accountability 3: Apply sophisticated project management strategies and principles in carrying out communications, marketing and branding activities and accomplish project deliverables.

  • Develop and implement marketing and communication plans and programs with clear actions and timelines for implementation;
  • Support the I+E Marketing and Communications team in the delivery of content marketing and communication solutions in line with business strategy;
  • Facilitate event coordination and management;
  • Strategically prioritise marketing campaigns to ensure greatest market impact.

Key Accountability 4: Build and maintain effective relationships internally and externally to contribute to effective stakeholder relationship management.

  • Maintain client focus and relationships with internal/external clients and key stakeholders;
  • Undertake activities in line with I+E and SMEC business management systems;
  • Communicate professionally and appropriately to internal and external clients;
  • Clarify issues and needs of clients to enable the development of suitable solutions that meet client requirements;
  • Drive a collaborative approach with self and team by listening to and valuing other’s contributions;
  • Foster a culture of confidence in the Marketing & Communication team’s abilities through provision of high-quality support, dedication and consistent application of high professional standards.

Key Accountability 5: Effective management and leadership of nominated direct reports to ensure optimal performance, resourcing, retention and professional development.

  • Ensure the direct reports are supported to be competent, capable and experienced employees;
  • Ensure appropriate recruitment, retention and development of direct reports;
  • Implement on-the-job mentoring, learning and development opportunities within the allocated budget;
  • Undertake regular people management activities such as the annual Performance Appraisal, Probation Reviews and Performance Improvement Plans, in a timely manner;
  • Forecast workloads and ensure necessary resources to meet company and project deliverables;
  • Manage work financially, technically and contractually to ensure that it meets business requirements and is performed within the bounds of the organisation’s policies and procedures.

Experience:

  • Have succeeded in a similar role with typically a minimum 6 years’ experience;
  • Produce quality outcomes within an environment with competing demands and tight deadlines;
  • Work independently towards achieving objectives without supervision;
  • Worked across CSR, ESG or sustainability initiatives;
  • Develop processes in response to specific client requirements (both internal and external clients).
