Job Description
Key Roles and Responsibilities:
- Handle trouble tickets and collaborate closely with the Network Operations Center to resolve all incidents / requests in a timely manner and within agreed Service Level Agreement (SLA)
- Maintains network and services availability by performing maintenance and health checks
- Supports, assists or leads engineering, design and problem isolation
- Provide 24/7 second-level technical support, assisting with critical network issues as they arise
- Executes changes with clear identification of risks and mitigation plans to be captured into the change record
- Establishes monitoring for platform infrastructure
- Leads and manages all initial client escalation for operational issues
- Contributes to the change management process by logging all change requests with complete details for standard and non-standard including patching and any other changes to Configuration Items
- Ensures all changes are carried out with proper change approvals
- Plans and executes approved maintenance activities
Knowledge, Skills and Attributes:
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in network engineering with a significant focus on DWDM, SLTE and PFE technologies
- Hands on experience of transmission devices, such as Ciena, Adtran and Infinera.
- Strong understanding of optical transmission principles and technologies
- Experienced with network design and operational support for large-scale networks.
- Proficient in using optical network management and testing tools such as BERT, RFC2544, OTDR and OSA.
- Exceptional problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure.
Academic Qualifications and Certifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in a relevant field of study
- Knowledge of additional networking protocols and technologies (MPLS, BGP, Ethernet, etc.) is preferred.
