Position Overview:
The Drafter is responsible for creating detailed technical drawings and plans for the installation and maintenance of security systems, including CCTV and card access systems. This role involves working closely with engineers, project managers, and installation teams to ensure that designs are accurate and meet all project specifications and regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Technical Drawings and Plans:
- Create detailed 2D and 3D technical drawings using CAD software for the installation of security systems.
- Develop site plans, wiring diagrams, and equipment layouts based on project requirements.
- Update and revise drawings as needed to reflect changes in project scope or design specifications.
2. Project Collaboration:
- Work closely with engineers and project managers to gather information and understand project requirements.
- Collaborate with installation teams to ensure drawings are practical and implementable.
- Participate in project meetings to provide technical input and support.
3. Compliance and Standards:
- Ensure all drawings comply with industry standards, codes, and regulations.
- Incorporate client specifications and company standards into all designs.
- Stay up-to-date with changes in industry standards and best practices.
4. Documentation and Records:
- Maintain organized records of all drawings and related documents.
- Ensure all drawings are properly documented and stored for easy retrieval.
- Prepare and maintain drawing logs and issue reports as needed.
5. Quality Assurance:
- Review and check drawings for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with project specifications.
- Conduct self-checks and peer reviews to ensure high-quality outputs.
- Address and correct any errors or omissions in drawings.
6. Support and Training:
- Provide technical support to project teams and clients regarding drawings and specifications.
- Assist in training junior drafters and new team members on drafting standards and practices.
- Stay informed about new drafting technologies and tools.
Qualifications:
- Education: Associate’s degree or diploma in Drafting, Engineering Technology, or a related field.
A bachelor’s degree in a related field is a plus.
- Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience in drafting, preferably within the security systems or construction industry.
Skills:
- Proficiency in CAD software (AutoCAD, Revit, or similar).
- Strong understanding of technical drawing standards and practices.
- Knowledge of security systems, including CCTV and card access control, is preferred.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to read and interpret technical documents and blueprints.
- Physical Requirements:
- Ability to sit for extended periods while working on a computer.
- Occasional visits to job sites for measurements and verification.
Work Environment:
- Primarily office-based with occasional visits to client sites and project locations.
- May require working outside regular business hours to meet project deadlines.
