Accountabilities
- Working within AAC Group Overseas Legal Team in the role of Senior Legal Manager
- Reporting to Legal Director – AAC Overseas Legal Team
Day to day duties will involve:
- Support the Group's Southeast Asia expansion; support and add value to the overall legal functions of the Group on worldwide basis, including but not limited to M&A transactions, negotiation, capital market activities, contract drafting and review, loan and fund-raising transactions, legal risk management, implementation of shares incentive scheme, commercial/HR/IP dispute resolution, information security, etc.
- Strengthen legal protection and manage operating legal and regulatory risks, and contribute to improving legal & regulatory best practices within AAC Group.
- Provide legal support and advises to other departments whenever and wherever appropriate.
- Manages and organizes the handling of contentious matters in which Group entities are involved.
- Manage daily operation of the Group Legal team and its member on worldwide basis; Act as mentor and trainer on professional development of the team members.
- Select and engage with international legal service providers’ firms as needed, and closely monitor their performance and output.
Skills
- A sound understanding of all aspects of commercial law and an ability to apply that knowledge pragmatically in a business environment
- Excellent communication, collaboration and interpersonal skills
- Experience of managing matters with a cross border and foreign jurisdiction element, and managing external legal counsel
- Comfort with autonomy and willingness to challenge the status quo
- Confidence and technical ability to be able to deal with issues outside your experience and the ability to learn quickly on the job
- An ability to work successfully with a minimum level of supervision in a fast-paced, constantly changing environment
Qualification
- Bachelor of Laws or Juris Doctor from an established and reputable law school
- Qualified in Singapore/ Hong Kong/ US or UK
- Strong level of English & Mandarin (both verbal and written) to effectively communicate with key Chinese Stakeholders
- Not less than 10 years post qualification experience; legal knowledge in different types of investment and corporate finance related contract and documents; strong drafting skill in both English and Chinese languages
- Legal work experiences in Singapore, Malaysia and other countries in Asia. Work knowledge and experience in India is a plus. The post will be required to support company secretarial works in overseas countries
- Outstanding presentation, communication, negotiation, and influential skills.
- Highly flexible and adaptable with can-do attitude, with some travelling to Malaysia, China and some Asian countries.
