The Metta Home for the Disabled and Metta Home Day Activity Centre (慈光乐陶苑及智障日间活动中心) were set up in December 2000 to offer community care options to adults with intellectual disabilities who are aged between 18 and 55.

Funded by the Ministry of Community Development, Youth and Sports (MCYS), the former is a purpose-built facility designed to accommodate 103 residents, whereas the latter is supported under the MSF and Tote Board Social Service Fund to provide day care services for a capacity of 50 beneficiaries.


Our programmes aim to equip all recipients with the skills and means to lead independent and fulfilling lives, so as to achieve social integration and quality of life.

Tending them with holistic care and working closely with their primary caregivers to provide well-rounded support is a multi-disciplinary team comprising a social worker, training officers, staff nurses, assistant nurses, nursing and therapy aides.


As an Assistant Manager (Operations), the candidate is responsible in the following areas:

  • Ensure that daily office operations are performed seamlessly and efficiently
  • Ensure effective & efficient building, equipment and facilities maintenance operations
  • Develop, implement and continuously improve facilities, policies and management systems
  • Assist with the development of in-house training
  • Address operational issues and concerns in a timely and effective manner.
  • Supervise and review performance of operations team to ensure smooth operational service delivery.
  • Support and educate operations team on best practices, organization policies and service excellence standards.
  • Plan and direct all aspects of operational policies, objectives and initiatives
  • Develop policies and procedures for operational processes in order to ensure optimisation and compliance with established standards and regulations
  • Developing, reviewing, and improving administrative systems, policies, and procedures
  • Recommend and adopt best HR practices to ensure safe, healthy and happy working environment
  • Oversee operational costs, risk and audit activities.
  • Assist in interviewing, recruiting, training, performance evaluation, promotion and termination activities.
  • Determine staffing requirements, work assignments and schedule for new projects.
  • Prepare reports for management review
  • Plan and develop new services, where needed
  • Perform routine maintenance and repair works for equipment.
  • Assist to manage a team of drivers and transport requests
  • Ensure Fire, Workplace and Health Safety are in place
  • Ensure security, overall cleanliness, safety and proper organization within the premises.
  • Assist to oversee the functions and programme of Home Day Care Activity
  • Assist to oversee the functions and programme of the Allied Health team.

Job Requirements:

  • Minimum 3 years of relevant working experience, preferably within the Social Service Sector
  • Minimum Diploma/Degree in Business Management or equivalent
  • Good computer literacy skills and Proficient in Microsoft office (word, excel, power point)
  • A good team player and able to work independently
  • Excellent leadership skills with good initiatives, able to think flexibly to resolve issues
  • Possess high analytical and problem solving abilities
  • Maintain high level of professionalism, consistency and discipline in people and time management
  • Strong communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills
  • Hardworking, meticulous and responsible
  • Self-motivated and able to manage multiple and complex tasks in a fast-paced environment
