We are seeking a highly motivated research fellow to join the Department of Medical Oncology, National Cancer Centre Singapore to further ongoing work in precision oncology, specifically in development of biomarkers for targeted therapy and immunotherapy.


The candidate will be part of a multidisciplinary team that includes computational biologists, data scientists, researchers and clinicians to drive translational science efforts and application of new technologies. The ultimate goal will be to develop novel patient-derived in vitro models of lung cancer tissue explants and organoids in order to gain insights to mediators of resistance and sensitivity for targeted therapy and immunotherapy and as well as testing for new oncology investigational drugs.


Main Responsibilities:


Research & Publications

  • Lead experimental workflows, including planning and systematic implementation of lung cancer explant/organoid cultures for small to large scale experiments and biobanking.
  • Work with lung cancer organoid models for functional genomics screening, including CRISPR and knock-down/in genetic engineering, drug sensitivities and combinatorial screening assays.
  • Perform genomics and transcriptomics profiling as orthogonal read outs to define molecular networks and signalling pathways driving therapeutic resistance.
  • Contribute to data analysis, internal and external/international presentations.

Mentorship and Supervision

  • Supervise and manage Research Officers and PhD students in conjunction with the Principal Investigator.
  • Provide guidance on research projects, demonstrated by progress and research output

Innovation and Impact

  • Participation in the development of SOPs and technology transfers
  • Progress in translational research findings into practical applications such as patents or new methodologies adopted by other researchers or industry

Key Requirements:

  • Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in related technical discipline (cancer biology, biomedical science, genetics, biochemistry or molecular biology)
  • Strong technical/wet lab skills with experience in cell culture, flow cytometry, molecular cloning, in vitro drug screening
  • Strong interest in cancer biology and translational science
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work independently upon training
  • Good interpersonal skills
