We are seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Aquarium Manager to lead the planning, development, and management of our aquarium exhibits. Reporting to the Aquarium Senior Manager, this ideal candidate will bring a passion for marine life, extensive knowledge of aquatic ecosystems, and a proven track record in aquarium management.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement goals and priorities for the aquarium exhibits, aligned with S.E.A. Aquarium mission and vision.
- Curate and design captivating exhibits that showcase diverse marine life and ecosystems.
- Stay current with advancements in aquarium sciences and integrate innovative concepts into exhibits.
- Oversee the health and well-being of aquatic species within the exhibits.
- Works closely with Veterinary department on all quarantine treatment procedures
- Report animal medical cases to Curatorial and Veterinarian team upon discovery.
- Ensures that all animal care and regimes are carried out, implemented and GOP’s are followed.
- Leads and manages a team of aquarists, including interns and casuals in daily operations for Small Exhibits.
- Provide training, mentorship, and guidance to staff in fish husbandry and exhibit maintenance.
- Foster a collaborative and positive work environment.
- Maintains up to date and accurate records in Oerca program system to ensure quality of animal management and welfare are at or above industry standards.
- Oversee the maintenance and cleanliness of aquarium tanks and equipment.
- Promote, participate in and oversee departmental research and conservation programmes.
- Assist with preparing and managing annual CAPEX and OPEX budget for Small Exhibits.
- Adhere to all safety protocols.
Requirements:
- Minimally possessing a Bachelor's degree in Marine Biology, Aquaculture, Zoology, or a related field.
- Minimum of 8 to 10 years of experience in aquarium management or curatorial roles.
- Holds a PADI Rescue Diver certification or higher
- In-depth knowledge of animal husbandry, disease management, water quality control and life support system operations.
- Strong leadership, project management and organisational skills.
- Excellent communication and public speaking abilities.
- Commitment to animal welfare and conservation principles.
- Familiarity with relevant regulatory requirements and standards.
- Maintain confidentiality of information received at all times.
