SENIOR PRODUCT DESIGN MANAGER
This is a strategic position to lead Filtrona’s development activities in new Reduced Risk Product (RRP) categories. The role will be responsible to lead and manage product development initiatives for Filtrona specifically for new categories in order to serve the future needs of customers and consumers.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
New Product Strategy
Collaborate with Innovation Director to develop a clear strategy for Product Development including new categories to meet future customer and consumer needs. Assessing the existing capabilities, this role would be key to recommend the appropriate road map for Filtrona in new categories.
New Product Design
Lead all new product design related specification according to customer requests through sales and marketing departments by considering company profits, production capabilities, and confidentiality of new product designs.
New Product Specification Assessment
Establish an evaluation protocol to evaluate the results of new product development based on the design objectives and success criteria. Where required, lead Filtrona Innovation Centre (FIC) team to take corrective action and re-evaluate the specifications of new products for evaluation and improvement.
Testing New Filter Product Development
Lead and manage all analysis and testing of new product developments that require development, evaluation of quality, and creation of new methods in planning and standard operating procedures.
Inventions and IP
Collaborate with IP Manager to lead all inventions related to new categories and ensure the required patent filings are done to protect proprietary IP sufficiently.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
- A recognized/ relevant qualification in a technical discipline (e.g. BSc/BEng in Mechanical/Electrical/Process Engineering, Materials, etc.) would be essential.
- A secondary degree (e.g. PhD, MSc, MEng, MBA) would be preferred.
- Minimum 10 years’ experience of working in product design for new categories within the tobacco industry.
- Knowledge of Reduced Risk Product (RRP) or Heated Tobacco Product (HTP) is a must.
- Ability to communicate at all levels, both verbal and written skills including English to an international audience.
- Must be an innovative and creative thinker, good technical background and ability to take on and develop new ideas.
- High analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent skills in Microsoft Office.
