ROLE DESCRIPTION SUMMARY
In anticipation of future bids and projects in Defence and Public Security sectors, Engineering Department requires a competent system communications designer who has a track record of designing and managing the deployment of a data communications network that spans multiple sites. Experience with designing a hybrid network architecture (on premise network interfacing to a cloud infrastructure) is desirable but not mandatory.
The Network Engineer with designated domain knowledge has to produce detailed network architecture designs and implement network systems to meet the data communication needs of the assigned bids and projects. He will be involved in an established system engineering process with other sub-system specialists to address complex and difficult design requirements. While not mandatory, it will be to the candidate’s advantage if he/she possesses an understanding of cybersecurity principles and concepts such as network segmentation, network access controls and 802.1X.
KEY ACTIVITIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
As a Sr. Network and Infrastructure Engineer, you are accountable for:
Design, specify & costing of detailed Network solution, including
· Interpreting customer requirements and producing a detailed & compliant network design. The design should incorporate cybersecurity products like firewalls and network access control mechanisms, and where necessary be able to support the operational requirements of IT infrastructure such as IT servers and data backup solutions.
· Interfacing with customer’s technical team for design definition.
· Interfacing with other system-wide designers for service definition.
· Interfacing with suppliers and vendors for product definition.
· Evaluate and recommend the most suitable products and system, ensuring costs are within allocated budget
During site implementation, testing & commissioning of the Network
· Leading the deployment and commissioning activities on site, as well as producing the commissioning documentation
· Providing support to the installation and maintenance works.
Keep track of progress of all design & interface tasks
· Carrying out all assigned work efficiently, with a minimum of supervision,
· Expediting response and deliverables (documents & including engineering drawings, specifications, design reports and calculations, equipment details and other project information).
All the tasks and responsibilities mentioned above are expected to have overlapping coverage with the domains of cybersecurity or IT infrastructure, and the candidate is expected to be able to cover these domains occasionally, with guidance from relevant subject matter experts.
KEY KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE
To be successful in your role, you will have demonstrated and/or acquired the following knowledge and experience:
· Diploma or Degree in Electrical / Electronic / Computer Science
· Cisco Certified Networking Professional (CCNP), Cisco Data Center Certificate or equivalent level in networking is an advantage
· More than 5 Years of direct experience as a Network engineer working on LAN, WAN, Wireless, SD-WAN technologies, with at least 2 years in network design work
· Development and deployment of Fixed Communication networks in Security domain
· Familiar with various protocol, TCP/IP, VLAN, RADIUS, SNMP, OSPF, BGP, MPLS and various overlay technology, EVPN, VRF-Lite, VXLAN, etc.
· Working knowledge and experience in hardening of network appliances and/or server infrastructure
· Experience in any of the following will be advantageous:
o Network design and implementation
o Network hardware configuration
o Network performance tuning
o Deployment of network firewalls such as Fortinet and Palo Alto
o Performed actual work in setting up and managing RADIUS/TACACS servers for network access control
