Actxa is looking for the Head of Research and Development (R&D)

What will you do?

1. Product Development:

  • Project manage and oversee the end-to-end hardware product development lifecycle, from concept to production.
  • Unerstand Software/Firmware integration and experiences in firmware specification review.
  • Collaborate with firmware, software development team to ensure seamless integration between hardware and software components.
  • Project scheduling and resource planning.

2. Production Management and Quality Assurance:

  • Understand production process, drive and manage OEM/ODM factories for the entire production cycle including the RMA processes.
  • Establish and enforce quality standards for hardware products, ensuring compliance with tender requirements, client’s specification and regulatory requirements.
  • Establish effective QA/QC methodologies, standards and processes, conduct thorough testing, validation of hardware products and failure analysis.

3. Regulatory Compliance:

  • Stay informed about industry compliance, regulations, and standards in consumer electronics.

4. Customer and Vendor Management:

  • Work closely with key customers to ensure product features, delivery timeline and quality meet their requirements.
  • Respond to key customers’ technical feedback and enquiries in a timely manner.
  • Identify and engage with external partners, factory vendors, and suppliers for product design, development, testing and manufacturing.
  • Establish cost efficient RMA processes with clients and vendors.

5. Innovation and Research:

  • Stay abreast of the latest advancements in hardware technologies, AI, and preventive health to identify opportunities for innovation.
  • Develop and maintain a technology roadmap for hardware solutions, keeping abreast of industry trends and advancements.
  • Evaluate and recommend emerging technologies to enhance the company's competitive position.

6. Cross-Functional Collaboration:

  • Work closely with clients, vendors, software development, data science, and product management teams to align hardware solutions to company’s goal and values.
  • Collaborate with marketing and sales teams to communicate hardware features and benefits to clients and stakeholders.
  • Collaborate research partners and institutions on the research and development that potentially create next generation preventive health technologies.

7. Team Management:

  • Lead and mentor junior CE Product Engineers, ensuring they are equipped to deliver high-quality solutions.

What are we looking for?

  • Bachelor's or advanced degree in Electrical & Electronic Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in a team lead role with at least 5 years experiences in consumer electronic product development.
  • Strong strategic thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge of compliance and regulatory requirements in the consumer electronic or healthcare industry.
  • Familiarity or deep interest in wellness, health and AI will be an added advantage.

Regular regional travel to vendors, partners and customers’ site is expected for this role.
