Vessel Operator, Tanker (Shipbroker)

Responsibilities:

  • Acts as the primary operations point of contact (24/7) for assigned equipment.
  • Responsible for preparation and communication of voyage orders, and further instructions.
  • Handles vessel/ cargo stowage agency nominations and or appointments, and communications.
  • Ensures all assigned voyages are performed as defined by company-standardized voyage orders.
  • Ensure all emails are correctly tagged as per the process for working in SEDNA.
  • Ensure accurate capture of voyage details in IMOS and other systems, as applicable.
  • Interface with Commercial schedulers, charterer, agents, terminal, vessel/barge owners/operators and tanker brokers in respect of voyages to and from 3rd party customers.
  • Interaction with Marine Assurance to maintain minimal exposure for cargoes and assets
  • Work with Loss Control to eliminate or minimise any impairment in cargo quality or quantity.
  • Monitor vessel’s bunker ROB and consumption for heating, tank cleaning and ECA zone consumption.
  • Manage all aspects of voyage costs and cargo documentation related to Operations.
  • Verify and approve Hire payments, freight invoices and all other secondary voyage costs.
  • Represent the company with carriers, terminal personnel, and/or other internal/external contacts in a professional manner.
  • Possess a firm understanding of the Global Vessel Incident Reporting & Crisis Monitoring Plan and ensure duties are performed as per the “On Call Incident Report Manual”.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent years of experience.
  • Broad understanding of marine transportation business, including marine logistics, dispatching, and general marine transportation processes.
  • Possesses a fundamental understanding of marine risk and exposures to marine liability.
  • Proficiency in SEDNA and IMOS.
  • Strong computer proficiency in Microsoft Office and the ability to learn new systems as required.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and efficiently prioritize work to meet deadlines.
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication, facilitation, planning and organizational skills.
  • Works effectively in teams with a strong desire for personal learning and sharing of knowledge with others.
