The Mechanical Engineer will be responsible to oversee the Sungei Kadut-Jalan Papan Workshop Vehicles (tipper trucks, lorries, diesel trucks, no-plate/ vehicles) or Clementi Workshop Heavy Machineries (excavators, articulated trucks etc).
Sungei Kadut - Jalan Papan Workshop
- To provide day to day hands-on supervision of Workshop mechanics and ensure safety, quality and productivity of the work.
- To ensure that vehicles are either serviced in accordance with the maintenance plan or repair in accordance with the highest of speed, quality and reliability.
- To ensure that each vehicle has a full documented history record of works being carried out
- To act as a technical expert in the Workshop, advising mechanics on repair and sharing knowledge, for example through regular toolbox talks
- Well versed in technical aspects to work with mechanics on finding the vehicle faults easily through efficient troubleshooting method
Clementi Workshop
Logistics
- Deployment, tracking and status update of machinery and equipment movement to meet requests for machineries and equipment
- Conduct site visits to ensure machineries and equipment movement correlate and update in system
- Propose and justify for the procurement and scrapping of machineries and equipment to management
- Update management on the machineries and equipment utilisation rate on monthly basis
- Coordinate any corrective repair(s) requirements with Maintenance Engineer and follow up action
- Manage staffs, delegate responsibilities and keep close contact with all stakeholders
- Ensure proper and timely rental billing of machineries and equipment to all stakeholders
- Undertake ad-hoc responsibilities assigned by management
Maintenance
- Ensure corrective repairs and preventive maintenance of machineries and equipment are done efficiently according to manufacturer specifications
- Compile all corrective repairs summary reports, costings and man hours to update management on monthly basis
- Follow up on status of spare parts with warehouse to ensure timely completion of corrective repairs of machineries and equipment
- Conduct site visits and compile pictures for reporting to management to ensure machineries and equipment are being used and maintained correctly on site
- Coordinate and liaise with Logistics Engineer on machineries and equipment movement in and out of workshop
- Monitor and review performance of mechanics, mobile mechanics and staff
- Liaise, deal and follow up on corrective repairs with external workshop
- Ensure proper and timely clearance of external corrective repairs billings with purchasing and finance department
- Undertake ad-hoc responsibilities assigned by management
Requirements
- Diploma or Degree in Mechanical or Mechatronics Engineering
- At least 2 years experience in related industry or Vehicle Workshop environment or Heavy Machinery environment
- Ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines.
- Ability to communicate complex concepts
- Able to work independently and in a team
- Good interpersonal, analytical and problem-solving skills
- Strong communicator to resolve issues with stakeholders (Mechanics, Warehouse, Purchasing, Transport etc)
- Required to travel to construction sites and analyze the deployed machineries' repair status when the need arises.
