The National Institute of Education invites suitable applications for the position of Research Assistant on a 9-month contract at the Office of Education Research (OER).
Project Title: Boosting Executive Functions through Cognitively-engaging Physical Activities [OER 25/22 AAR]
Project Introduction: Executive functions are critical for our overall well-being and have been associated with multiple life outcomes. There is some evidence to suggest that physical activities may be beneficial for executive functions. This project will examine the effect of physical activity interventions on executive functions and if the effects differ across different types of physical activities. The study will examine both behavioural performance as well as brain activation patterns associated with executive functions.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Neuroscience, or related field.
- Relevant research experience
- Good verbal communication and writing skills.
- Expertise in Microsoft applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Basic knowledge of statistics and SPSS.
- Able to work independently with minimal supervision
- Able to work cooperatively in teams
- Proactive, willing to learn, reliable and able to manage concurrent tasks in a timely manner
- Experience with data analysis and publications an advantage
- Statistical skills and/or knowledge with additional analysis software (e.g., Matlab, Mplus, R) an advantage
- Interest in physical activities and some knowledge of team sports will be an advantage
Responsibilities
- Conduct literature reviews
- Assist with data collection, processing and analysis
- Assist in the administration and management of project
- Assist in writing of reports
- Maintain and document research records
- Other tasks as assigned by the Principal Investigator
