IT Application Support Specialist

Key duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to those listed below:

  • Level 2 application support for IT solutions-related incidents. Work on reported incidents and manage escalations until a solution is found and the service returns to normalcy. Update the status of the incidents in the IT Service Desk System and, if necessary, escalate the incidents to Level 3, following procedures if not resolved.
  • Analyse needs and requirements, plan and execute application-related bug fixings, enhancements, or new projects, including provisioning, training and deployment of new solutions and applications.
  • Document IT solutions and applications design and configuration and keep the documentation up to date for operational reference.
  • Monitor IT solutions and applications performance and proactively resolve any issue before it affects school users.
  • Manage access and permission to IT applications and ensure only authorised users have access to IT solutions and data.
  • Manage applications' data protection and retention according to school policies.
  • Perform other duties as directed by the Head of IT Operations and Business Partnering, IT Applications Manager or such persons as the School may designate.

Qualification:

  • A diploma or degree in an IT-related discipline
  • 2 years experience in working in IT Application Support

Requirement:

  • Hands-on knowledge and experience in providing IT Application Support
  • Highly self-motivated and detail-oriented.
  • Ability to effectively prioritize tasks under pressure, and experience in working in a team-oriented and collaborative environment.
  • Excellent verbal and written English skills.
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical users.
  • Willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies.
  • Demonstrated ability to be resourceful and proactive in solving problems and finding efficient solutions.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Prior Experience and knowledge in Software Development Life Cycle, SQL Scripting, Microsoft Power Platforms, and Developing online forms.
  • Prior Experience in supporting school management systems or similar corporate-style applications and platforms:School management solutions such as iSAMS, Firefly, and PowerSchool
    Microsoft Dynamics
    Talend Data Integration Platform
    Microsoft SQL Platform
  • Some Experience in integrating different platforms such as Powershell, Phyton, .NET, Java, SQL Server Integration Services, and Reporting Services would be desired.

As the job holder, your responsibility for promoting and safeguarding the welfare of children and young persons for whom they are responsible or with whom, they come into contact will be to adhere to and ensure compliance with the relevant Cognita Safeguarding; Child Protection Policy and Procedures at all times. If, in the course of carrying out the duties of the role, the job holder identifies any instance that a child is suffering or likely to suffer significant harm either at school or at home, s/he must report any concerns to the School’s Child Protection Officer/Designated Safeguarding Lead or to the Head or indeed to the Regional CEO so that a referral can be made accordingly to the relevant third-party services.
