Job Summary:
The primary job responsibility of the Production Department Manager is to ensure efficient and effective production operations through optimising resource allocation, monitoring production metrics, and implementing process improvements to maximise productivity and minimise waste. He / She drives continuous improvement and operational excellence within the production department by identifying areas for improvement, implementing lean manufacturing principles, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement among the production team. He / She ensures the production team has the necessary skills, knowledge, and resources to perform their roles effectively.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee Production Operations: Ensure smooth and efficient production processes, optimizing resource allocation, and monitoring production metrics.
- Manage Budgets and Compliance: Oversee department budgets, ensure adherence to safety, health, and regulatory requirements.
- Implement Process Improvements: Drive continuous improvement by identifying areas for enhancement and implementing lean manufacturing principles.
- Plan Production Schedules: Develop and monitor production schedules to achieve output and timing targets.
- Lead Staff Development: Conduct regular coaching and feedback sessions, ensuring the production team has the necessary skills and resources.
- Collaborate with Teams: Coordinate with external vendors, HQ staff, and other departments for resources and support in daily operations and projects.
Requirements:
- Educational Background: Degree in Chemical Engineering or equivalent.
- Experience: Minimum of 8 years in chemical manufacturing, with at least 5 years in a managerial role.
- Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of chemical plant management, ESH regulations, and ISO certification processes.
- Skills: Proficiency in MS Office, excellent interpersonal and communication skills, strong planning and people management abilities.
- Attributes: Data-driven with strong analytical and problem-solving skills, a safety and quality mindset, and high integrity.
