Summary / Objective
We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Procurement Assistant to provide support to the Purchasing Executive and Procurement Manager in the purchasing process. The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating with suppliers, preparing and issuing purchase orders, ensuring timely delivery of goods, and handling logistics and transportation arrangements.
Essential Functions
- Assist the Purchasing Executive and Procurement Manager in the procurement process, including obtaining quotes from suppliers, negotiating prices, and clarifying specifications.
- Prepare and issue purchase orders and work orders, ensuring approval and proper closure of purchasing activities for each technical requirement.
- Follow up on purchase orders to ensure timely delivery of goods.
- In the absence of the Logistics Support Assistant, take over their duties as required.
- Arrange for boat and land transportation for personnel boarding/disembarking vessels, as well as for the delivery of stores, spares, and provisions to vessels.
- Physically fit and able to carry heavy load items when required.
- Coordinate import/export arrangements and documentations for spares through Lighterage Wharves, Jurong Port, and PSA.
- Enter accurate information into the company's electronic system as required.
- Provide feedback and contribute to improving the management system by suggesting process improvements to the section/department manager.
Requirements
- Minimum GCE level in any discipline, & minimum 1 year of experience in Purchasing role and/or Logistics role.
- Proficiency in Microsoft applications
- Experience working in Shipping Industry will be additional advantage
- Physically fit and able to carry heavy load items.
