Role:
The Team Lead is overall in charge of the Mechanical Engineering Team. He specializes in mechanical works, but has a good system view. He is responsible for the competency of the team to deliver the project needs within the stipulated timeline, budget and quality.
Responsibilities:
- Directly manage a team of mechanical engineers and designers, and taking full responsibility for the team development and workload scheduling.
- Provides technical and program-level support and guidance to the team, including execution strategies.
- To ensure that design verifications and design validations are carried out to confirm design with the assistance from relevant system/subsystem engineers.
- Identify necessary technical skills required in upcoming projects and opportunities. Structure training and ensure team is sufficiently trained in time to breach this competency gap.
- Align and harmonize process and Milestone deliverables for ME discipline.
- Ensure timely completion of team’s deliverables for each work package, Project Milestones and tender proposals, within budget using both technical engineering and administrative skills.
- Architect solutions together with specialist for each project.
- Facilitate to resolve escalated technical issues from the team.
- Create and maintain technical documentation to ensure efficient planning and execution.
Requirements:
- Bachelor in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
- More than 5 years of system engineering experience.
- Experience in leading a team of between 5-10 engineers.
- Design and prototype mechanical system in the following: drive train design, structure design, heat/airflow management, shock and vibration design and covers and casings.
- Proficient with FEA or CFD.
- Experience in computer-aided drafting and design with particular emphasis Solidworks.
- Demonstrate strong leadership capabilities and possess excellent Interpersonal and Communication Skills (both written and verbal), as the successful candidate will facilitate the link between Design Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering and Supply Chain.
- Involvement in Continual Improvement initiatives (e.g. 5S, Lean, Kaizen).
