MISSION
The mission of the Student Assistant is AESH (Accompanying person for students with disabilities).
RESPONSABILITIES
Under the direct supervision of the school psychologist, the student assistant will have to:
- Encourage and support the integration and the development of the student in the classroom or school, the acquisition of autonomy and understanding of school life by intervening in the classroom in consultation with the teacher. Write or manipulate the material that the student needs or apart from teaching time (interclasses, meals)
- Help the students to settle in the classroom (computer workstations, various technical aids), in order to participate in the activities of the class
- Provide assistance to school tasks when the student has difficulty in achieving the tasks required by learning situations under the usual conditions of efficiency and speed
- Perform technical actions that do not require a particular medical or paramedical qualification (hygiene gesture, assistance with displacement)
- Participate in occasional or regular classroom trips or school trips, if necessary, to enable the student to be integrated into all activities that enrich school learning
- Collaborate in the follow up of integration projects (meetings to develop or regulate the student's individualized project, participation in meetings with the family, meetings of the educational team, etc.)
REQUIRED SKILLS, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATION
- High school diploma
- Desired experience with children or teenagers with a physical or intellectual disability or learning disabilities
- Fluent in French in order to communicate with the student, the family and teachers
- Good listening skills and patience
- Ability to integrate a multidisciplinary team (psychologist, teachers)
- Ability to respond appropriately to emergencies, conflicts or aggressivenes
