They are looking for a Regional Legal Counsel.
Job Description
- This role reports to the Legal Director for international markets.
Global Legal Leadership & Strategic Support:
- You'll spearhead the legal aspects of the Group's expansion in Southeast Asia, while also providing comprehensive legal support across all functions and entities worldwide.
- This includes M&A, capital market activities, loan and fund-raising transactions, contract reviews, risk management, implementation of shares incentive scheme, commercial, HR, IP dispute resolution, information security, and more.
- You'll be a key player in strengthening legal protections and best practices throughout the group, ensuring compliance and mitigating risks.
Team Management & Expertise:
- You'll lead and develop the global legal team, providing mentorship and training to enhance their professional skills.
- You'll oversee external legal counsel, managing relationships and ensuring effective service delivery.
The Successful Applicant
- Commercial Acumen & Strategic Thinking: You possess a deep understanding of commercial law and can apply it practically to solve real-world business challenges.
- Leadership & Collaboration: You excel at communication, teamwork, and building strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders. You have experience managing cross-border legal matters and external counsel.
- Independent & Adaptable: You thrive in a fast-paced environment, are comfortable taking initiative, and readily embrace new challenges and learning opportunities. You can confidently handle situations beyond your immediate experience and learn quickly on the job.
- Top-Tier Law Degree: Hold a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) or Juris Doctor (J.D.) from a good law school.
- Qualified to practice: Be qualified to practice law in Singapore, Hong Kong, the US, or the UK.
- Seasoned Corporate Lawyer: Have at least 10 years of post-qualification experience (PQE) in investment and corporate finance transactions.
- Drafting Master: Demonstrate exceptional drafting skills in for legal contracts and documents.
- Asian Legal Landscape: Have experience working with legal matters in Singapore, Malaysia, and other Asian countries like India, would be a bonus.
- Global Company Secretary: Be prepared to support company secretarial functions in overseas jurisdictions.
- Communication Champion: Excel in presentation, communication, and negotiation, with the ability to influence stakeholders.
- Adaptable & Proactive: Be highly flexible, resourceful, and willing to travel.
