Summary
Reporting to Head of Tax (Asia Pacific), you will be providing senior level support and expert tax advisory to Asia Pacific (APAC) senior management for business support, M&A, tax technical and compliance matters as required.
As the APAC Tax manager, you will be collaborating closely with tax and finance teams primarily in APAC and also contribute in other jurisdictions with the Group’s Headquarters tax department. The incumbent is expected to lead discussions and bring issues to resolution.
Responsibilities
- Provide expert technical advice in support of APAC tax leadership
- Advise APAC business leadership as the subject matter expert on all taxation matters
- Provide tax advisory guidance and counsel to group shipping carrier organizations in APAC
- Lead in tax projects and/or lead for tax in cross functional projects
- Perform tax impact analysis in support of new business transactions
- Monitor tax provisions and interlock with internal teams to ensure consistency
- Provide tax audit and/or tax query support as required
- Support tax compliance processes as required
- Research and analyse tax law developments that may affect the Group
- Independently manage external tax consultants
Requirements
- Minimum 8 years’ experience in a corporate tax environment in an MNC with/or Big 4 Accounting firm experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Law or Economics from a recognized institution with at least 1 additional recognized tax accreditation or advanced degree in taxation
- Strong technical knowledge and abilities in Singapore Income Tax and cross border International Tax in shipping carriers/shipping is a huge plus
- High attention to detail and proficient in Microsoft Excel
- Ability to work under pressure and ambiguity and solve complex issues
- Strong team player with the ability to lead in projects
- Pro-active, solution-driven and a problem-solver
- Analytical mindset, with good written and spoken English communication skills
