We are representing our client in the Shipping industry to look for an experienced Release Train Engineer.
You will undertake a critical role in monitoring and coordinating ongoing projects and applications holistically to ensure that specific project milestones are achieved and business needs are met.
You will communicate with various stakeholders in project teams and propose best market practices based on business needs.
Responsibilities:
Agile Leadership
- Lead and facilitate cross-squad ceremonies to address and resolve impediments, track dependencies, and ensure alignment with overall PI goals – thereby maximising the flow of value to the Client and alignment to strategic goals.
- Conduct regular check-ins with Scrum Masters, Product Owners, Architecture leadership and other stakeholders to ensure the smooth functioning of Agile projects.
- Encourage collaboration between teams and System and Solution Architects/Engineering
- Champion Agile and SAFe principles, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and collaboration within and across squads.
Planning & Coordination
- Organize and facilitate Program Increment (PI) Planning sessions, ensuring that teams are aligned on priorities, dependencies, and objectives for each increment.
- Collaborate with Product Owners to prioritize and groom the Program Backlog, ensuring that features and user stories are well-defined and ready for execution (Definition of Ready met).
- Monitor progress and adherence to timelines, addressing any deviations and adjusting plans as necessary to ensure Definition of Done is achieved.
Communication & Reporting
- Develop and maintain communication plans to keep stakeholders informed about the progress of Agile Teams and the overall program.
- Provide regular status updates to leadership, highlighting key milestones, risks, and areas for improvement.
- Ensure transparency by maintaining relevant metrics and reporting on the performance and health of the Agile project.
Problem Resolution
- Proactively identify and address impediments, risks, and dependencies that may impact the successful delivery of the program.
- Collaborate with teams to find creative solutions to challenges, ensuring that the Agile project remains on track.
- Escalate critical issues to leadership, providing recommended courses of action.
Continuous Improvement
- Organise and facilitate Inspect and Adapt workshops at the end of each Program Increment to gather feedback and identify areas for improvement.
- Work with teams to implement lessons learned, drive continuous improvement initiatives, and optimize processes within the Agile project.
- Investigate and analyse global practises to share best practices and contribute to the evolution of Agile practices within client organisations and Alumni.
Typical Deliverables:
- Program Backlog prioritized and groomed for upcoming Program Increments.
- PI Planning artifacts, including Program Board, Program Backlog, and team plans.
- Regular status reports and metrics on the health and performance of the ART.
- Action plans and improvements resulting from Inspect and Adapt workshops.
- Resolutions to impediments and dependencies impacting the Agile Project.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree (IT or engineering) or equivalent
- Minimum 5 years’ operating in a Release Train Engineer role or in roles which provide foundation skills for RTE’s including: Agile Coach, Scrum Master, Project Manager, Product Owner.
- Preferable industry experience across shipping, logistics, supply chain or technology industries.
- Demonstrable architecture knowledge across Applications, Data and Technology (especially CICD technologies)
- Proficient in both design and delivery of scaled Agile programmes
- Proven experience operating strategically and tactically, engaging successfully with both C-Suite and operational staff.
- Understand the value of Agile and able to articulate the benefits of an Agile operational model.
- Has a strong interest in emerging trends in the technology domain and practical knowledge of how they apply to Agile transformation.
- Excellent stakeholder engagement, people management and communication skills with a strong sense of ownership
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills
- Recent and relevant Agile certifications (SAFe RTE) is preferred.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office applications including PowerPoint, Teams, Excel, SharePoint, and Outlook.
