Job Descriptions:
- Provide legal advice to the company on legal risks and implications of the company business.
- Develop and implement internal policies and procedures to ensure compliance with legal requirements and corporate governance standards.
- Draft, review and negotiate a variety of contracts, agreements and board resolutions.
- Identify and assess potential legal risks and develop strategies to mitigate them.
- Conduct internal audits and compliance checks to ensure legal and regulatory adherence.
- Collaborate closely with internal stakeholders including management,business partners and operations teams to ensure legal compliance and mitigate risks across all aspects of the company business.
- Handle disputes, litigation and arbitration matters as they arise.
- Liaise with regulatory bodies, external lawyers and external company secretaries when required.
- Conduct training sessions for internal staff on compliance issues and changes in corporate governance requirements as necessary.
- Stay abreast of changes in corporate laws and regulations globally and proactively advise the company on potential impacts and necessary actions.
- Other ad-hoc as assigned by management.
Job Requirements:
- Candidate must possess a Bachelor’s Degree in Law (LLB)/Business Administration/Professional Certification or equivalent.
- Has at least 5 years relevant experience in a similar role, preferably within a corporate secretarial or legal firm.
- In-depth knowledge of corporate law, commercial law, and regulatory compliance.
- Proven experience in handling corporate governance and risk management issues.
- Strong negotiation, communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams.
- Holding or currently pursuing corporate secretarial qualifications (SAICSA) would be advantageous.
- High level of integrity, professionalism and detail-oriented with excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
