Job Description
The Mechanobiology Institute, Singapore is a multidisciplinary institute committed to developing new paradigms for biomedical research by focusing on the quantitative analysis of dynamic functional processes. Through quantitative biophysical approaches, we address major problems in biomedical sciences including pathogenesis (from bacterial to cancer), tissue regeneration, and function.
We are seeking to recruit a Research Assistant to work in the research group of Prof. Alexander Bershadsky at the Mechanobiology Institute, NUS. The Bershadsky group is interested in cytoskeleton-dependent mechanotransduction and adhesion-dependent mechanosensitivity mechanisms found in cells. The group explored these themes using super-resolution microscopy, optogenetics and microfabricated substrates. This is an excellent entry-level job for candidates interested in pursuing postgraduate studies and/or developing skillsets in cellular imaging and image analysis.
Specifically the candidate responsibilities will include:
- Performing cell culture assays
- Molecular work
- Microscopy and image analysis
- Assisting in lab procurement and assume the role of lab safety lead

Qualification
- a Bachelor’s degree in life sciences, biomedical engineering, computational biology or related disciplines
Preferred Qualification/Experiences
- Experience in cell and tissue culture, and molecular biology
- Experience with image analysis softwares
- Ability to work independently, multi-task and work collaboratively in a cross-disciplinary research environment
