Overview

Finance Asia ex-Japan provides support to the Sales & Trading Front Office and ensures that business activities are carried out in an efficient, controlled, risk-free and timely manner. The Asia ex-Japan region has over 150 people based in Australia, China, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Korea, Malaysia, Singapore and Taiwan

The IWM product control team akin to Private Banking Finance provides a wide range of support to International Wealth Management business covering a broad range of products based in Singapore. The Product Control team (within Global Middle Office) at Nomura goes beyond the core Product Control responsibilities and acts as a key Finance advisory function to the business (eg. Financial Resource usage, legal entity booking model, bespoke transaction setup & approval, business analysis, technical projects, cross-functional liaison, business MIS, legal entity transfer pricing etc.)

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for International Wealth Management business commensurate to Private Banking Finance.
  • Take ownership, and be accountable for the timely and accurate calculation, verification, reporting of daily P&L and MI to internal stakeholders.
  • Interaction with Business, Operations, Risk, Valuations, FC&R, CMA and other functions to resolve booking, valuation, financial resource and management reporting queries.
  • Undertake critical reviews and analysis of IWM business activity with the objective of highlighting significant items to senior management.
  • Undertake various month activities which includes Balance Sheet substantiation, transfer pricing, MIS/KPI, eom financial reporting and validation of key senior management metrics.
  • Support cross assets onboarding initiatives across wider firm booking platform assessing legal entity suitability.

Requirements:

  • Degree from an accredited University or professional qualification e.g. Chartered Accountant.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a regional product control/management reporting function within Private Banking or Investment Banking.
  • Experience with Avaloq banking suite.
  • Experience with Private Banking accounting practices, balance seek substantiation, transfer pricing and MI reporting.
  • Strong understanding of legal entity and management reporting controls.
  • Should wear a control hat always and be able to question/challenge the business to gain clarity.
  • Strong MS Office skills (Excel, Powerpoint), able to present data in a readable format within a reasonable timeframe. Basic knowledge of digital tools (Power BI, Alteryx etc).
  • Self-driven with strong analytical, communication and problem-solving skills, combined with well-developed inter-personal skills, and independent.
  • Strong project management and communication skills.
  • Team player, proactive and self-starting, able to navigate across multiple stakeholders to achieve the desired result.
