Role
Candidate is to demonstrate good teaching practices, maintain security and safety of the children under his/ her charge, and implement an educational programme that is developmentally appropriate and aligned with the Association’s mission and vision.
The candidate must be able to maintain a professional attitude towards children with developmental problems/ delays/ disabilities, the families, staff and other professional at all times, and to able to communicate professionally and openly.
To be a role model that demonstrates values, attitudes, expectations, beliefs, and choices that contribute to service and professional excellence.
Responsibilities
Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
1. Assisting with short and long-range planning with regards to the curriculum, lesson plans, the programme philosophy, goals and objectives;
2. Completing monthly, weekly, and daily curriculum plans in time for the group and communicating these plans to the Head of Children Services, and if needed, to other teachers;
3. Planning, preparing and implementing activities and lessons that age appropriate, according to the level, skill and social development of the group of children served;
4. Supervising and interacting with the children in all areas of the programme, outdoors and during field trips away from the programme if needed;
5. Maintaining an environment that helps each child to have a positive experience throughout their learning years;
6. Treating all children with dignity and respect, while allowing individual differences. Providing an atmosphere of acceptance and care for each child
7. Being familiar with and adhering to the organisational policies, health and safety regulations and emergency procedures and being ready to implement these if necessary;
8. Assisting with orientation, training, and supervision of Head Children Education Services, aides and substitutes;
9. Helping fellow teachers to maintain professional attitudes;
10. Working co-cooperatively with teachers and other professionals to develop teaching methods and resources;
11. Sourcing and purchasing/ creating materials pertinent to all areas of the curriculum;
12. Conferring with parents regarding facility activities and educational plan;
13. Maintaining the observational record for each child and all routine forms;
14. Consulting/ liaising with other professional support for coordinating learning for the individual child, discussing educational plan, action plans, children’s progress, programmes of work and resources;
15. Conduct training sessions for families pertaining to topics of special education
16. Liaising with parents and other agencies such as speech therapists, occupational therapists and psychologists;
17. Being involved in staff development/in-service training – this can be carried out in class by demonstrating methods, techniques and resources.

Qualifications
Minimum Diploma or Degree in Early Intervention/ Special Education/ Early Childhood Education/ Teaching
1 to 3 years of experience working with families and children preferred
