Duties and responsibilities
The main duties and responsibilities are to manage the resources, budget and operations of the training centre in the most cost-efficient way while delivering safe and, high-quality training. This position should balance the productivity of the training centre with the quality of training delivery and the safety of customers and staff. The General Manager has overall responsibility for maintaining, updating and/or improving the Safety and Quality System and is responsible for the overall safety of the centre’s operations. He/she shall be acceptable to the relevant authorities as the accountable manager. The General Manager reports to the Regional Operations Leader and the Board of Directors when applicable.
Finance:
• Has the responsibility to direct the business within the scope of the agreed budget and meet the P&L targets.
• Delivers input for the centre budget and forecasting of results.
• Assists in needs analysis for equipment and manpower in close coordination with the CAE Regional Management, Finance and Board of Directors when applicable.
Customers:
• Establish and maintain a customer-oriented business and good relationship with CAE’s various customers to deliver high levels of customer satisfaction
• Ensures efficient and high-quality training delivery in line with customer contracts through customer-focused staff and communication.
• Supporting the development and execution of local marketing & sales activities to customer utilization and training levels and overall revenue for the centre.
Operations:
• Drive and improve efficiency in all areas of the centre balancing productivity, quality and safety in the best possible way
• Seek new methods to improve the centre operations, quality of training products, standards and overall profitability and share those actively with the CAE management and Board of Directors when applicable
• Ensure center compliance with all applicable aviation regulations, customer contracts and internal CAE global policies.
• Apply and implement the CAE Training System including but not limited to the operational matrix, training and operations standards, scheduling method and tool, safety and quality management system
• Delivers regularly updated management information and metrics in collaboration with the different departments in the centre to enable fact-based decision-making
Training:
• Implements the CAE standards to its fullest extent, provides feedback on the same and assists from time to time in reviewing those policies and standards in order to continuously improve not only the centre but the entire CAE training centre operations standard.
• Coordinate courseware implementation and development in conjunction with CAE company guidelines and the Training organization.
Employees:
• Directs and supports/facilitates the management members (direct reports) and their department activities; team consisting of technicians, aviation trainers, professionals, and support staff
• Responsible for staffing all required personnel as well as ensuring that all staff members are regulated under a training and standardization plan
• Deploy and streamline all necessary procedures and processes, and ensure compliance with CAE policies, procedures and processes
Safety and Quality:
• Responsible for the promotion and execution of the Safety Management System and Quality System and the integration of safe behaviour and quality management in everyday operation
• ‘Leading by example’ by behaving as an exemplary role model to employees and students promoting professional, disciplined and safe behaviour
Leadership:
• Supervise and manage the Management Team of the centre, inspiring leadership, promoting teamwork and driving performance
• ‘Lead by example’ by displaying exemplary leadership to managers and employees
• Responsible for driving the Performance Management process and ensuring compliance with timeline and high quality content
